Top Tip from another customer
If you need prior year transcripts you can get them online. The IRS will NOT email you transcripts and can only send them by mail or fax. If you want to get them faxed to you, you must be in front of the fax. You can call customer support at the IRS using 800-829-1040. Once you call press 1 for English then wait for the recording to end. Press 2 then 1 then 3 then 2. The recording will then ask for your social security number you can just press 0# it will ask again then press 0# and finally press 2 once it asks you a question. You will be told your wait time and a representative will pick up to help you.
The issue in GetHuman-jamckon's own words
Hi there. I'm having trouble accessing my online account because: I no longer live at the address written on my last set of taxes, and it can't locate a cell number I got about six months ago. Because it can't locate my cell phone, it wants to mail me an activation code, but I don't live at that address anymore. **I really need to access the portal to get a w* from **** for employment verification. If there's any other way I can setup my online account, I'd love to do it.
GetHuman-jamckon did not yet indicate what IRS should do to make this right.
