I received an email about a trip to Italy at about *:** today. I looked at the particulars just to see the information. I did not click onto anything that would indicate a desire to purchase the trip. Suddenly, at *:** an email popped up that said “Purchase Confirmed: Thank you for your purchase! Your Groupon purchase was successful, you’re almost done!” It then asked me to “follow the instructions below to redeem my Groupon etc.” There was a toll free phone number to access and give my voucher * and credit card information etc. I did not give any such information but on scrolling further down the email there was an order *****-******-****** and a dollar amount for * person priced at $*,***.**. When I called the phone listed, ***-***-**** they denied having anything to do with the order and transfered me to another company who also denied involvement and said I should contact Groupon. I’m not sure where I saw the last * digits of my credit card number or if I heard it on the telephone call, but it was the card I use for Groupon purchases. I called my credit card company immediately and yes, I was already billed for $*,***.**. My credit card agent said they couldn’t stop payment but the agent helped me file my request for a refund. She also tried the Groupon phone number but they close at *:** pm. EST. She supplied me with the phone number for Groupon, and I will call tomorrow. Most comments I’ve read state that no human answers the phone but I’ll try anyway. My credit card agent said that if I was not able to get reimbursement from Groupon, I can dispute the charge with that department of the credit card company. Is there anything you can do to help me? I did not follow their instructions in the email to redeem my Groupon by visiting MY GROUPONS or the How to Use instructions by *. Pull up the voucher on their app. * Providing my voucher * and credit card information as well as names and dates of birth so they appear on passports for all passengers. I did not want to complicate the situation by delving further into the email I received from Groupon. It may be that they cannot proceed further because I didn’t click onto a “Pay Now”, or give my entire credit card information or click onto a “submit “ request. I’ve never had a situation like this and have used Groupon many times without a problem. Can you help?
