I need a new Direct Express Card with a completely NEW number and a New PIN. ... My name is Jean E. Buckhalter and I have a Direct Express Card. The HUGE problem is that my care giver has my card AND the PIN number and keeps "forgetting" to give it back. I cannot hear on a telephone and I do not have one of those expensive phones for the deaf but do use email for everything that requires contact. **It is the **st of May and I have pennies left on my card. Some purchases are mine as I stayed up late several nights to arrange to use as much of my Direct Express funds as possible. I use my DE card for medications, groceries and whatever money my care giver says is necessary for him to take me to the doctor's or other places. **As the caregiver is also a relative, I don't want him in trouble (which he knows makes him pretty well untouchable) but I don't know what to DO! Is there any way to get a new card with a new PIN sent to me? Or even sent to my husband's place of employment? I am in a wheelchair living out in the country without a ramp so the only way I get my mail is if the caregiver gets it before my husband does. My caregiver has told me if I did that, it would be many months before the problems are straightened out and that the government would end up cancelling my card access altogether and it would be a nightmare getting access to my funds again.**I cannot hear clearly over the telephone, so that means of contacting you is pretty much out. I am also low vision which makes it very difficult to talk with someone online who is in a hurry to get to the next call while I am trying to read what was written by using a magnifying glass. I trust my husband implicitly and he has my authorization to handle this mess, though he is becoming very angry about the situation with our "gimmie gimmie" son. My husband can speak over the phone while at work however that means that every customer and his employers (who have many opinions about things which are none of their business) will be able to hear every word said. There is a possibility that my caregiver has already changed my card number and password, which would make this an even more insane, convoluted problem. Even his wife has gotten into the act and cleaned out my account before I could quickly make orders for groceries and other things online.Please tell me what I can DO to make my funds safe from misappropriation. **I am trying to change my email password since my caregiver recently changed it to another password without telling me what it is. FYI, according to my neurologist, I do not have dementia or Alzheimer's but I am pretty much immobile because it is impossible to ride my wheelchair down the stairs without falling out of it, which has happened many times. (I don't have a ramp and cannot afford to have one put in to give me a little more mobility.) Our mail carrier won't get out of his car to hand deliver mail, but will honk the horn a couple of times before leaving. I don't have enough time to actually move from my bedroom, get into my wheelchair and attempt to fall out of the front door and down the stairs before he leaves. As I currently stay in my bedroom I do not always hear when he honks his horn. Right now I have several pieces of mail that need to be picked up downtown but my husband is having trouble taking enough time off of work to come home, load me into the truck and carry me to the post office. I find it hard to believe that in all of the people on Direct Express that I'm the only one with this problem, so I am pretty sure someone in your office will have a constructive suggestion. Thank you very much. **Ever since retiring from teaching at a local college, I seem to have lost every bit of respect that was once given me by everyone from family members, (with the exception of my husband), colleagues and even the check out people at stores. Old doesn't mean STUPID but I certainly feel stupid since I have not yet been able to solve this conundrum.
What they don't realize is that when my June payment is applied to my current Direct Express Carf my Caregiver is going to wipe it out as soon as the money is posted to my account and I need this money to pay bills and buy medications .
Cancel the old card and PIN number. Send (in two separate shipments) a new Direct Express Card and a new PIN number and get a human involved in handling this, not just a pre-programmed application running by the preset parameters.
I am sixty nine years old and have had my Direct Express Card since turning sixty five. With the almost instantaneous response of modern computers, and the old school things called HUMANS to aid them, I had expected by now, at the very least, that a HUMAN could have gotten around to cancelling the old card. FYI and For What It Is Worth, I now have exactly four CENTS remaining on my Direct Express Card. compromised card, reissue a new one with a new PIN and have actually managed to send an email stating that the new card and new pin were in two seperate envelopes and should be arriving at our address within a couple of days. I wish I was joking or making much ado about naught, however my caretaker has done this - clearing out my monhly Direct Express card, more than a dozen times. If you look at the purchases made on my card, you will see many to places like Taco Bell and many gas stations. I am legally blind and cannot drive, hence the negation of the gas station (and lottery tickets) and I do most of my grocery shopping online at Amazon's Prime Pantry and WalMart on Cordele Highway in Albany Georgia. I do not expect any refund of money, chalking it up to a painfully learned lesson, but I do desperately require a new card and PIN number.
I have been asking for my card back for several weeks to no avail. The caretaker who took my card says I don't need it because there's only four cents on it. That is not the issue, the issue at hand is THEFT and I need someone on your end to make another direct express card before the second Wednesday in June rolls around and I am wiped out once again. For your elucidation, I am enclosing the copy of charges for the month of May. As noted earlier, my charges are to Amazon and WalMart.
