I have just visited the Kingsway Asda as I do on most days. I went to the cafe to purchase a takeaway coffee and snack prior to running the Parkrun which is held each week adjacent to Asda. As I entered the Cafe there was one customer in front of me and two seated customers. I queued behind the lady who was engaging in a conversation with the male colleague behind the counter. The conversation went on for approximately two minutes before the colleague went behind the counter into the store room and presented the lady with a cup of tea. The conversation continued with the colleague discussing bread dates, I can assume from the discussion and the fact that no money was exchanged that the lady was an employee? I then assumed that I would be acknowledged and served however the colleague and the lady then moved down the counter and continued talking. At that point I turned around and walked out from the Cafe as it was clear to me that my custom was not appreciated. The colleague obviously embarrassed that he had ignored me responded by saying “I’m sorry sir” too little to late as far as I was concerned. If the colleague had been busy serving I would have fully understood, however this whole experience was totally unacceptable and could have been avoided. I would be interested in your comments.
