Last week we embarked on our annual winter pilgrimage to Maui. We are not even waiting for our return trip to tell you that AC flight ***, Feb *, Calgary to Maui leg, was cramped, uncomfortable, and probably the worst flight we have taken with Air Canada in the past ** years (silver Aeroplan, loyal Air Canada customers). The Toronto*Calgary part of the flight was aboard a wide body, dual aisle ***. For the second part of the trip, we were squeezed on to a single aisle, cramped new *** extended, with a total of * TINY toilets in the rear of the aircraft, for roughly *** economy class passengers. The ONLY aisle can’t be more than **” wide. My carry on bag is **” in width, and it kept snagging on seats on one side of the aisle or the other.**The combination of narrow aisle, limited toilet facilities and at least * turbulence (return to your seats) announcements resulted in long lineups. I counted ** to ** people at times. This meant that those of us seated in the rear of the aircraft had to beg for a place in the middle of the privy lineup. After standing in that lineup and being sat down twice, I was forced to defy the flight attendant on turbulence ** ( I was *rd in line to finally relieve my self) !!! When she got insistent, I told her I would sit if she immediately brought a towel to my seat, because it was about to get wet. Adding to the discomfort was what seemed to be a poorly functioning air handling system. The *.* hour flight was warm and stuffy.**We ARE NOT writing this letter to seek any kind of compensation. We are writing to tell you that your new *** extended IS THE WRONG aircraft for a *.* hour flight (akin to cruel and unusual punishment). We are planning a September trip to Europe, and our return to Maui next winter. If an Air Canada *** is involved in either of those trips, we will look to other carriers. We have friends who fly Westjet to Hawaii now, and say they are extremely happy.***Kevin & Renate Hodges*St. Catharines, Ontario.
