I had Directv years ago and was disputing charges after cancelling the service. Now that they are part of ATT it hunts me because I cannot put additional service on my ATT account because of the charges from Directv. However I called their finance department*collection and asked if we can work something out. They made me a settlement offer which I took and paid that amount in full right than. A week later I went on to my AT&T account to put a additional line onto my service with a new apple watch but it was denied with the reason that I would still owe money. At that point I started the chat to discuss this with them so they could take that flag of my account because I paid the settlement especially I never had any issues with AT&T besides this one which was with Directv. *I explained the situation and the nightmare started because they transferred me back and forth between the Directv department, the wireless department and also the financial department. I spent around * hours to talk with them on the phone and via chat. At one point the finance department person told me that, even they offered a settlement and I paid that in full, AT&T still has the right to deny any new service until I would pay the balance in full despite of the settlement. But he stated that this is something the wireless account service could work with me and could overwrite this. I went back to the wireless department only to find me being transferred again to the Directv department who also transferred me again back to the wireless department. At that point I gave up, wished them a good day and disconnected. I paid the settlement and want to spent even more money with AT&T by buying a new smart watch and phone and put that on my account which I have already for a long time.
