How Do I Close My Account on eToro?

Online cryptocurrency trading is very fluid. Traders switch exchanges for a variety of reasons. If you have an eToro account you want to close, what steps do you take? What happens after you close your account? You can learn more about eToro account management by contacting customer support here, and below are the steps to closing your eToro account.

Before Closing Your Account

Before closing your account, settle all transactions. Make sure all opened positions are closed. Remove any cryptocurrency from your eToro wallet. Also, withdraw all funds (fiat) you have in your eToro account.

To withdraw funds, follow these steps:

  1. Open eToro in your browser and log into your account.
  2. In the left-hand menu, locate and click the "Withdraw Funds" tab.
  3. Enter the amount in US dollars to withdraw.
  4. Enter the information required on the withdrawal form.
  5. Hit "Submit" to complete the process.

How to Close Your Account

Once you've withdrawn all the funds and closed any open positions, you are ready to close the account. To close your account, complete the steps below:

  1. Open eToro in your browser and log into your account.
  2. Click on "Account Settings."
  3. Navigate to the "Close Account" button and click it.
  4. In the pop-up that appears, enter why you are closing your account from the following options:
    • Platform fails to meet needs
    • Issues with payment
    • Issues with account
    • Personal/private reasons
    • Other (with the option to further explain)
    • Concerns about privacy
  5. In the next pop-up, select "Confirm" to complete the closure process.

What Happens Next

After you submit your request to close your account, eToro's customer support team will process the request. When the account is closed, the following happens:

  1. Your account will be blocked/frozen so no further transactions can be completed.
  2. Your profile is made private, but your community activities do not. You must contact customer support here to make community activities private as well.
  3. It may take three business days before your account completely closes.
  4. You will receive an email once your account is closed.
  5. If the account balance is equal to or less than withdrawal fees, the balance will be used to cover the fees.
  6. You will lose all Club Benefits associated with your account.
  7. Any cryptocurrency in your eToro wallet will be inaccessible.
  8. If you decide to return to eToro, you must open a new account. Once an account has been closed it cannot be reopened.
