How Do You Update Your Account Info on YouTube?

Sometimes, you may want to make changes in your life, and YouTube gets that. Whether you want to change your account information or your channel information, YouTube allows for changes to be made at any time. Keep reading for instructions on how to make changes to your YouTube account or channel.

Update Your YouTube Account

Your YouTube account is tied to your Google account, so you will actually need to make changes to your Google account.

1. Go to www.youtube.com

2. In the top right corner, select 'Sign In.'

3. You will be asked to sign in with your phone number or email, and your password.

4. In the top right corner, there is a circle icon with either your profile picture or a symbol in it. Select the icon, and then click on 'My Channel.'

5. In the left corner of your screen, there is a menu panel. Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select 'Settings.'

6. Near the bottom of the screen, next to 'Account Settings' select 'View or change your account settings.'

7. You will be redirected to your Google account page. Here, you can follow the steps to make the changes to your account you require. To the left, there is a side menu of options for you to choose from, choose the category that applies to the changes you want to make. The categories are:

1. Personal information

3. Security

4. People & sharing

5. Payments & subscriptions

Update Your YouTube Channel

If you would like to make changes to your YouTube channel, this can be done completely within the YouTube platform.

Change Your Channel Name

1. Go to www.youtube.com

2. In the top right corner, select 'Sign In.'

3. You will be asked to sign in with your phone number or email, and your password.

4. In the top right corner, there is a circle icon with either your profile picture or a symbol in it. Select the icon, and then click on 'My Channel.'

5. In the left corner of your screen, there is a menu panel. Scroll to the bottom of the menu and select 'Settings.'

6. At the top of the page, under the 'Your YouTube Channel,' select 'Edit on Google.'

7. You will be redirected to a Google page. Update the channel name and click 'OK.' Note that after you make the change, it can take several days for it to be reflected on your YouTube channel.

Change Your Channel Icon

1. Go to www.youtube.com

2. In the top right corner, select 'Sign In.'

3. You will be asked to sign in with your phone number or email, and your password.

4. In the top left corner, there is an icon with three lines. Select this icon, and click on 'Your Channel.'

5. Select your channel icon at the top of the screen and click 'Edit.'

6. Change the picture. Note that you are able to change your channel icon on YouTube an unlimited amount of times.

Change Your Channel Description

The instructions for changing your channel description vary slightly depending on if you customize your channel's layout or not.

If you don't customize your channel layout:

1. Go to www.youtube.com

2. In the top right corner, select 'Sign In.'

3. You will be asked to sign in with your phone number or email, and your password.

4. In the top left corner, there is an icon with three lines. Select this icon, and click on 'Your Channel.'

5. Under your channel name click 'Edit' in the description box, and make your changes.

If you customize your channel layout:

1. Go to www.youtube.com

2. In the top right corner, select 'Sign In.'

3. You will be asked to sign in with your phone number or email, and your password.

4. In the top left corner, there is an icon with three lines. Select this icon, and click on 'Your Channel.'

5. Select the 'About' tab.

6. Under 'Description,' select 'Edit.' and make your changes.

7. When you are finished, select 'Done.'
