How Do I Transfer My Time Warner Account to Another Carrier?

Warner Media formerly known as Time Warner is one of the largest media conglomerates in the United States. The company offers TV, internet, home phone and cable services through the brand name Spectrum.

Time Warner services can get too expensive or you may find a better alternative and decide to transfer you account to someone else. The process of transferring your account to a new carrier is known as porting.

Luckily, Time Warner process port-outs very swiftly. You can also access your account information as soon as you want online which makes the porting process easy and smooth.

To successfully transfer you account to a new carrier, you will have to communicate with an agent from the new carrier. The following is the process of transferring your account:

  1. Prepare Your Time Warner Account Information

For quick and successful porting, adequate preparation is key. Organize all your Time Warner account information and store it safely. Such information will include your account information and PIN. Your most recent account bill will also come in handy.

In fact, you can request a Customer Service Report (CSR) from Time Warner and they will send you all the information associated with your account that they have on file. While requesting the CSR, take the opportunity to find out if you are eligible to port your number and if there are any special requirements to do so.

  1. Contact The New Carrier's Customer Service Agent

If they have a phone number, call your new carrier's customer service number and get connected to an agent. If not, you can even reach out via email and the agent will contact you.

The transference of your account to a new carrier can face all manners of obstacles and a helping hand will ease the process significantly. The agent should walk you through the entire process of transferring your number to a new carrier.

If you contact you new carrier via email, you should ensure that you include all necessary details in the email and be very clear in your description.

Most customer service agents will ask for the previous bill from Time Warner before they complete the porting process. That is why it is so important to have the details prepared beforehand.

The details will often help them get authority to port your account.

  1. Submit The Letter Of Agency

Most service providers will request a letter of authorization (agency) since it is evidence that the account holder has authorized the transfer of their account to a new carrier. You should carefully read the document and only if you agree to the terms should you sign it.

It is important to be diligent when filling the form because the information on the document including the name, business name (where necessary) and address among others must match for the transfer to be complete.

Some carriers will allow you to complete the form and sign it electronically. Those who don't will ask you to download the form, sign it and then upload it and send it to them via email.

  1. Transfer Completion

You will have to be patient for the porting to be completed by the customer service agent. Once the agent has all the information they need, they will send it to Time Warner to be approved.

The transfer process of a Time Warner account takes 7 to 10 days after which you should contact Time Warner customer service and ask about the transfer progress.

You should receive email notification during this time though. If the porting takes too long or you receive notification from the new carrier that approval has been denied, you should call Time Warner customer service for further assistance.
