How Do I Exchange an Item From TJX?

TJX or TJ Maxx is an American multinational department store corporation. The store's parent company TJX is a NYSE listed company with over 4500 locations as of 2020.

When you order an item from TJX, you should ensure that you order the correct item and make accurate specifications. The good news is that when you make an error when ordering such as ordering the wrong item or ordering the wrong size, you can return the item and get an exchange.

But first, you should know TJX's return and exchange policy.

TJX Return and Exchange Policy

You have 30 days from the date of purchase to return an item to TJX for either a refund or an exchange. After the 30 days grace period has passed, a return, whether you have a receipt or not will be exchanged and you will be given store credit instead.

Having a receipt is not a mandatory requirement for returns to TJX but they do make exchanges a lot easier and quicker. On the other hand, if you do not have a receipt, you will have to provide proof of identity using details such as a government issued photo ID, name, signature, and address.

The personal information will ensure that you do not abuse TJX's return and exchange policies.

You cannot return washed or worn items to TJX. However, your powers of persuasion can work on a store manager but the item needs to be washed according to the instructions on the label and look as good as possible to increase your chances.

There are items that you cannot return to TJX for an exchange or refund. These items include gift cards.

Moreover, you cannot return an online purchase to a store. You also cannot return items worth more than $1,000 and handbags worth over $500 to a TJX store. You have to ship them back.

When you return an item with a gift receipt, you can get an exchange or store credit but you cannot get refunded in cash. If you return such an item after 30 days from the date of purchase, you will be refunded with the clearance price of the item.

You can also return goods bought from TJX over the holidays. Any purchase made between October 16th and December 24th can be returned as from January 23rd of the next year.

You can also get refunded in cash if you made a purchase using a debit card and still have the receipt.

Now that you know the store's return and exchange policy, you can return the item.

Returning an Item to TJX

You have two options as far as returning an item to TJX for an exchange is concerned. You can either return them to a physical TJX store or send them via mail subject to the returns and exchanges policy.

You can return a purchase to your nearest TJX store. When returning items to a store, you will have to bring the receipt, packaging slip or have the email confirmation message.

When returning via mail, you should ensure that it reaches the carrier (FedEx or UPS) before 30 days since the purchase is over. If you do not, you will only receive store credit and not get an exchange.

You will have to pay the shipping and handling fees. Use the shipping label the order arrived with when returning the item.

It is cheaper and easier to return items in-store as long as they fit within the returns and exchange policy. They spare you the shipping fee and hustle.

If you face any problems returning an item, be sure to contact TJX customer support.
