If you're enrolled in Santander's online banking service, you can use it to automatically pay your bills with money deducted from your Santander bank account, saving you a lot of hassle every month. If you've been using this service but now need to stop paying one of your AutoPay bills, keep reading this article to find out how to do it.

How to Cancel Santander's Automatic Bill Payments

To cancel a bill you have set up with AutoPay, follow these steps:

  1. Go to the Online Banking site and sign in.
  2. Click on the Navigation drop down menu to expand it.
  3. Click on Money Movement.
  4. Click on Bill Pay.
  5. Click on Payment Center.
  6. Locate the bill you want to stop paying in the list of AutoPay bills.
  7. Click on the AutoPay link.
  8. Click on Stop AutoPay.
  9. Click on Close.

Have You Considered All Your Options?

If you're stopping payment because you no longer need the service you are paying for, that's one thing; however, if you're stopping payment on something you still need to pay for because you don't think you'll have enough money in your account when the payment comes due, that's another. You still need to pay the bill in the long term, and canceling automatic payments will make that more difficult. If you prefer, you can cancel a single payment from the Pending Payments section. The next payment, and those after it, will still be made normally. That will buy you a little time to get your current payment difficulties worked out.
