What Is OfferUp?
OfferUp is a mobile-only marketplace allowing users to buy and purchase items they like. Buyers can scroll through images of items being sold and filter them by price or location. For sellers, they need to include necessary details to attract more buyers. They can also subscribe to OfferUp's Promotion services to sell items faster.
OfferUp is a mobile-only marketplace that allows users to buy and sell items. Like Instagram, you can scroll through images of products being sold. Every offer found on the app comes with at least one picture, product description, the condition of the item and location. Compared to other marketplaces like Craigslist, communication is within the OfferUp app. All users can also create their own profiles, just like Instagram or Facebook.
How to Buy an Item on OfferUp
There are filters to help you narrow down the type of products you're looking for. You can sort by Newest, or the Closest products and their prices (Low to High and High to Low).
You can buy products on OfferUp by meeting with the person and making an offer; or by purchasing an item to be shipped.
How to meet in person:
When you find a product you like, tap Ask to chat with the seller or Make an offer. You can both agree on a MeetUp Spot to check the item and make your payment.
How to purchase a shippable product:
- Select Make Offer on the listed product you'd like to buy.
- If you want to haggle, edit the price and tap Make Offer again.
- Tap Ship to Me if you want the product shipped or Make Offer if you want to meet with the seller.
- If you've agreed to the price and product, go to Review Your Offer and tap Confirm Offer.
- The offer is sent via chat. Go to your Inbox to open the message.
- You might also see a Buy Now button on the item. This means you can quickly purchase the product by tapping Buy Now.
- Review all the details and tap Confirm Purchase.
When the item is shipped, all users will have two days to inspect it. Request a refund if the item is damaged or purchase protection to file a claim.
How to Sell
Include the necessary details when posting an item on OfferUp. You can sell faster by providing helpful information to the buyers.
How to post a product:
- Open the app.
- Take a photo of the item or tap Select Photo.
- Add details and make sure you fill out all or most of the fields.
How to sell the item:
As soon as the item is posted, you'll get messages from interested buyers. Go to Find Messages on the app to view these messages. When you accept an offer, the buyer is charged through the app. Sellers must ship the item using the label sent by OfferUp. Use the label or you don't get paid.
