When you apply for TSA Precheck status, you will be screened for risks and then fingerprinted, if approved, you will be enrolled for 5 years. You can become a TSA Precheck passenger in 4 simple steps and it will save you a lot of time during traveling.
Step 1. Complete the online application
Step 2. Pay the application fee of $85 (this fee is non-refundable)
Step 3. Set up an appointment for a 10-minute in-person screening where you will undergo a background check and fingerprinting.
Step 4. Once approved you will be issued a KTN that you can begin adding to your reservations and travel profile.
Note: In order to apply you must be a permanent US resident or a US citizen. In addition, there is no guarantee that a passenger will get expedited screening or won't be told to remove certain items, such as a laptop or 3-1-1 liquids and gels from their carry-on baggage.
Some Customs and Border Protection programs may also allow you to enjoy TSA Precheck benefits, such as Global Entry, NEXUS, or SENTRI expedited custom programs as well as active Military personnel who can use their military ID as their KTN.
Once you are approved, you can begin using your TSA Precheck credentials by adding your KTN to your reservations, whenever you book a flight with JetBlue Airlines. You can also register your credentials during check-in; however for kiosk and mobile boarding passes, you must apply your KTN before check-in to use the service.
