It's possible to merge two Costco accounts into one, even though the Costco website and membership agreement are pretty clear that only one person can have one membership. One of the challenges that Costco shoppers face is managing multiple membership accounts. Unintentionally purchasing with the wrong account can happen if you manage multiple household accounts. Here are the steps to merge two Costco accounts.
Go to the Costco website and log in to your account. Click My Account and select Change My Membership in the pop-up box. Select Add Membership on the next page. Click Continue.
If you'd like to keep your existing Costco membership instead of transferring the card over to a different account, there is a way for both of you to have one membership — you can add them as a household manager on your plan.
First, go online to the Costco website and log into your current account. Click Manage My Households and select Add Household Manager. Enter the information for the member you want to add and click submit. The member will receive an email with instructions on ID verification.
Follow the instructions on each page of the form, including entering the new household's address and phone number to verify your identity and choosing a new password if you didn't have one before. On the Select Households screen, check all accounts that you want to merge and click Next Step.
Go through a series of questions about your membership history and click Next Step when you complete each one. Read over the final agreement on this page and select Agree and Continue.
When you choose to merge two Costco accounts, you'll need to enter the first person's membership number and last name on the screen. Once you do that, enter the second person's membership number, last name and new password. Next, it will ask you to input the second person's address. You can then change the address for both members if needed.
Wait for a confirmation email before proceeding. Check your inbox and confirm your address by clicking the link in the message or calling Customer Service. Log in to your new account using your login information.
GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
