The following are issues that customers reported to GetHuman about Bank of America customer service, archive #22. It includes a selection of 20 issue(s) reported December 11, 2019 onward. If you have a similar customer service issue, this page will help you find current, up-to-date answers and solutions too.
I recently deposited a check from my mother at BofA, but the bank is not releasing the funds, claiming the check may be returned. This seems strange because I have been a customer with BofA since it was SeaFirst, and my mother has been with her bank for just as long. Previous checks from her didn't have this issue, and according to Dodd Frank, the bank can't withhold funds without valid reasons. My mother's bank confirmed the check cleared, but BofA won't release the funds until 12/17, holding my money unnecessarily. I request the immediate release of the funds, as there is no legitimate reason for this delay. This goes against Dodd Frank regulations, and I am prepared to address this matter further.

As an employer, I have encountered a concerning situation with a company driver visiting a maintenance shop for truck repairs. Following the repairs, the driver noticed $40 missing from his wallet and later discovered his credit card was also gone. Upon reviewing a Warehouse Detail Result Report, it became apparent that transactions were made using the driver's name, a $[redacted] loan payment with the mechanic's name, and a $[redacted] utility bill payment with the mechanic's girlfriend's name.
I am puzzled as to why the mechanic and his girlfriend's names would be associated with the credit card transactions. Could the mechanic potentially have ownership or access to the card? I am keen to understand if this is a theft-related issue. Although the driver claims to have filed a police report, we are yet to receive any updates on the matter.

We recently had a company driver visit one of our maintenance shops for a truck repair. Unfortunately, upon receiving his truck back, he noticed that $40 was missing from his wallet, and later discovered his credit card was also gone. It is concerning that two mechanics who worked on the truck seem to be associated with transactions involving the missing card. The driver obtained a Warehouse Detail Result report that shows one of the mechanics used the card to pay off a loan, and the mechanic's girlfriend used it to pay towards a utility bill. This raises suspicion about the integrity of the mechanics and the safety of the driver's belongings. If they are not the rightful owners of the card, how did their names end up on the report? This situation warrants further investigation to address the possibility of theft.

I am concerned about the Cubamessenger charges appearing on our account. I believe these charges may be fraudulent, as they seem to be financially exploiting a 75-year-old. Additionally, there are Western Union charges on the credit card that raise suspicions. My husband, A.F.B., who manages the account, is showing alarming changes in behavior - he appears aware on the phone but is sleepless and anxious, indicating something is amiss. I am worried about his well-being and the financial implications. Your assistance in looking into this matter is greatly appreciated.

My bank, America, Amazon, and Yahoo email accounts have been compromised by someone in a foreign country. They have been manipulating my account balances in my checking account. On December 9, my balance was $[redacted].20. After a $10 co-payment at a doctor's appointment, my balance should have been $[redacted].20. Surprisingly, my balance later showed $[redacted].26, which confused me. I noticed $[redacted].06 returned to my account from an Amazon purchase I did not cancel, after it was initially deducted on December 3. I reached out to Amazon regarding this issue, as the amount was returned the same day a shipment was made on December 9. The $10 payment no longer appears in my account deductions, but I have a screenshot of it. The $[redacted].06 payment went through again on December 10, with the $10 payment not reflected. I have changed my password multiple times, but I suspect the hacker may have access to my computer and urge for the security of my account to be enhanced.

I requested my account to be closed nearly a month ago, and my phone was disabled. The funds have been released, but unfortunately, they are inaccessible. I am currently stuck at a gas station with no money for gas except for $[redacted] in my Bank of America account that I can't use. I urgently need access to these funds as the gas station will be closing soon, and the temperature is 20 degrees outside.

I have been facing issues with my account being repeatedly charged for the same items, resulting in costly overdraft fees. I urgently need stop payments to be placed on the following transactions:
- Southwest for $58.81
- Brigit for $[redacted]
- Cash 1 for a check of $80.92
I cannot afford to continue losing money due to these multiple charges. It is imperative that these transactions are prevented from being processed further to avoid additional fees. I received a check from a Bank of America client that bounced due to NSF. Even after depositing it twice, it keeps bouncing. My own bank suggested I go to Bank of America to get a cashier's check. I don't bank with them, so I can't call customer service. What documents do I need to bring with me to Bank of America for this transaction? If you need to reach me, my number is [redacted].

Hello, I would like to explain the situation. I have been trying to contact your bank several times, but being outside of America, I don't have an American number or social security to speak with a representative. I need to know if Bank of America charges fees when receiving money from abroad that was transferred from a bank abroad. My friend is at risk of losing the payment, and it’s crucial to get this information quickly. Please provide a phone number where I can speak directly with a person or answer my question soon. Thank you, Andri.

I submitted a claim because there were purchases that I didn't recognize. During this busy holiday season, I suspected a family member made a transaction without my permission. However, I realized that it was actually my 4-year-old niece who was playing games and accidentally purchased coins while pressing buttons. As I have Apple Pay set up with one-click purchasing, it happened quite easily.

Subject: Payment Routing Issue
I have been receiving a quarterly payment of US$[redacted].50 into my Citibank account in Singapore from BOA for the past 8 years without any problems. However, the December [redacted] payment was for US$[redacted].07, which is different. Citibank in Singapore investigated and found that the routing had been changed by you. I have attached their findings for your reference.
Could you please ensure that all future payments follow the original routing prior to the December [redacted] payment, as this discrepancy is causing issues for both me and your customer, Mr. Sinclair Skinner.
If this matter is not within your purview, kindly redirect it to the relevant department responsible.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Best regards,
Trevor Bowen

I am hoping all is well. I am seeking guidance on a fraud claim I have filed. My claim number is 27Dec2[redacted]90. Bank of America has not been cooperative and has closed my account due to a fraudulent check incident where I was a victim. The fraudulent check was received from an individual who was supposed to rent my room in Boston while I am away. Unfortunately, the person turned out to be a scammer, and the check was fake, resulting in the closure of my checking account upon trying to deposit it. I sought assistance from a Bank of America agent named Miriam in Allston, MA, who was familiar with the case, but the bank did not permit her to assist me. While on vacation, I was notified of the account closure, which I find unjust considering my good credit history and the duration of my account with them. I had never deposited a check before, and Miriam was unable to confirm its authenticity upon my inquiry. I have substantial evidence to support my claim and would greatly appreciate any help in directing me to someone capable of investigating the matter thoroughly.

I have not had any dealings with Bank of America in over 50 years. Recently, someone tried to steal my identity, and I reported it to BofA. They promised to send me an Affidavit template within 10 days, but it has been over a month with no response. This delay is causing issues with other business matters. I visited a local BofA branch to seek help from a customer service representative, but was turned away because I am not a BofA customer. Additionally, the automated voice on the BofA website does not provide access to a human representative. This experience is frustrating and reinforces our decision to move our business elsewhere.

I am currently having issues accessing my account due to the online banking website not accepting my correct passcode. Furthermore, they only have my landline phone number on file, which is unable to receive texts to verify my identity. It would be helpful if Bank of America allowed verification codes to be sent to email addresses like Get Human does. My first phone call to their customer service took 45 minutes to even speak to someone, which is unacceptable. The wait time is reminiscent of USPS service. This poor customer service experience is making me contemplate switching banks as they seem to not value their customers' time.

Additionally, I would like it removed from my credit bureau files promptly to prevent any negative impact on my credit score. In May [redacted], I opened a credit card account with Bank of America. It offered a 0% Intro APR and $0 balance transfer fee. After transferring a balance from AMEX, I set up monthly autopayments for the minimum due amount. Recently, I discovered that Bank of America reported a late payment in November [redacted]. They were still drawing the payment from the 0% period after it ended, unlike my other cards. I promptly paid $1,[redacted] and reduced my balance to $8,[redacted], setting up $[redacted] monthly payments. However, Bank of America sent a letter reducing my credit line from $14,[redacted] to $8,[redacted], which could lead to exceeding my balance due to interest. Their reasons were disputable: claiming delinquency, pointing out payment patterns, citing my amount owed, and mentioning my credit score of [redacted]. By reporting the alleged delinquency, my credit score plummeted [redacted] points overnight. To address this issue, I am requesting Bank of America to withdraw the delinquent notice, reinstate my original credit limit of $10,[redacted], and reimburse any fees incurred.
