What are the hours and when should I call?

Google Play operates the call center for this 855-836-3987 phone number 24 hours, 7 days. The short answer is that you should call on a Thursday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 14,232 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).

Automatically call when they open

When you use our free AI-powered phone to call and talk, wait on hold, or navigate for you, it will automatically wait until the Google Play call center opens before trying to call. It will ask your permission before it places the call, so you can also further delay that scheduled call until you are ready. But that means you can "set it and forget it" ahead of time.
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this Google Play phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like Google Play staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call Google Play is Sunday. The most busy day to call is Tuesday, which averages 79% more phone calls by comparison. Again, this is based on a sample of 14,232 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Monday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Wednesday.
But if you use our free call and talk for me or wait on hold for me service, you don't really need to worry about average wait times.

The best time to call Google Play

In summation, the best day to call Google Play is Thursday.

Calling this Google Play Customer Number

Sep 5, 2023

My call to Google Play's support was answered with an automated menu system in a pleasant human voice. You're immediately told to go online for locked accounts, and that credentials can't be changed over the phone for your protection. After that, you're given menu options that line up well with the most frequent reasons people call: help with apps, music, or other purchases from the Google Play store, support for hardware devices, and help signing in to your account. The menu will repeat three times, after which the call disconnects. Once you select a menu option, there's no way to return to the previous menu; you must hang up and call again.

Some of the options won't take you to an agent. Selecting the third option will give you an emphatic message saying they can't unlock your account over the phone. It provides the link to do so yourself and says it's designed so only you can recover your account. The call then disconnects. You'll get a similar message for help with Google Play refunds. If you need help troubleshooting an app, the recorded message tells you to tap "Help and Feedback" in the app or visit Google Play's online Help Center. For help with Nest devices, your call is transferred as if an agent will answer, but instead, it's another recording saying Nest's support number is no longer active and to visit the website.

Most of the menu options will get you to a human agent. For device hardware support, you can talk to an agent about problems with a specific phone or tablet, recent orders or subscriptions, and any questions you have before a purchase. The agent answered my call quickly and seemed knowledgeable. I was looking for help with my Pixel phone, and overall, it was a smooth experience.

The other option from the main menu is support for apps, music, and other Google Play purchases. If you need help with gift cards, charges you don't recognize, or subscriptions, you'll be connected with an agent. For music support, your call is actually transferred to a different help center; Google Play Music changed to YouTube Music in 2021, and YouTube has its own support center. However, the transfer was almost instant, and the agent answered right away.

It's difficult to find information about calling Google Play support through their website. When you click "contact us," you'll always see the options for live chat and email, but sometimes you'll also see the option to "get a call." It doesn't provide you with a number to call yourself. Call and chat both list hours of operation, but it seems they're open 24 hours. The 855-836-3987 phone line is closed in the evenings, though. Instead of an agent, I got a recording that they were closed when I called around 6 p.m. EST. I couldn't find anything listing their specific hours. If your problem isn't resolved over the phone, the Google Play website is the next best option.
