As the saying goes, "the internet is forever." Twitter is no exception. If you've deleted tweets you've made weeks, months, or even years ago, it is possible to recover them.

How Do I Recover Deleted Tweets On Twitter?

To recover your deleted Tweets on Twitter, follow these simple steps:

  1. Login to your Twitter account.
  2. Click on the More link near the bottom of the navigation menu on the left-side of the Twitter screen.
  3. Click on Settings and privacy to the left.
  4. Ensure Account is selected. On the right-hand side of the screen, navigate to Data and permissions, and click Your Twitter data.
  5. Underneath your Twitter data, enter your Twitter password in the correct field.
  6. Click the Request archive button. The button will read Retrieving archive and be 'grayed out, or un-clickable, while your archive is being compiled. (Realize that retrieving your data may take some time depending on how long you've had your account and how many Tweets, Replies, and Re-tweets you've made with your Twitter account. (You'll notice a Periscope option allows you to download your Periscope data. Periscope was purchased by Twitter in January 2015. Periscope is a live video and streaming app for Android an iOS.)
  7. You'll eventually receive an email addressed to the email account associated with your Twitter account letting you know your Twitter data is ready along with a Download link.
  8. Click the Download link in your email.
  9. You'll be taken to your Twitter page that has a Download data button. Click the Download data button. (Note that this button will be available to your for 30 days and you will not be able to make another request for your Twitter archive during those 30 days.)
  10. A zip file containing all of your Twitter data will download to your Downloads folder.
  11. Once downloaded, extract your downloaded Twitter archive zip file.
  12. After you extract your Twitter archive zip file. Locate and open the README.txt file. This file contains detailed information about the files and data contained in the zip file.
  13. In your extracted Twitter archive folder, you should see an index.hml file.
  14. Open this index.html in your Chrome browser to navigate your archived Twitter data.
