What Is an ACH Transfer?

An ACH transfer is an ideal solution for sending money and making payments. It's free and it's also generally pretty fast. The funds are wired electronically from one institution to the other, and the transfer is often completed on the same day, although international transfers take longer. While wire transfers are faster, an automatic clearinghouse (or ACH) processes them in large batches, so it can make them cheap enough for your bank to make them free of charge.
