What are the hours and when should I call?

WalMart operates the call center for this 614-534-1996 phone number Mon-Fri 8am-11pm, Sat 9am-9pm, Sun 12pm-7pm ET. The short answer is that you should call on a Tuesday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 19,181 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this WalMart phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like WalMart staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call WalMart is Tuesday. The most busy day to call is Monday. Again, this is based on a sample of 19,181 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Thursday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Tuesday.

The best time to call

In summation, the best day to call WalMart is Tuesday. This is not the day with the shortest wait on hold in the phone system, but we still recommend it for its ideal combination of low call volume and short hold times. Plus we believe that WalMart staffs the call center well on Tuesday.
Once again, please put this information in perspective because this phone number has no phone menu or long waits. It generally gets picked up right away if calling during their opening hours. If there is any way, it will typically be very short.

Calling this WalMart Customer Number

Calling this number is only meant to be used to order contacts from Walmart and its website, and it cannot be used to get information from the stores. When I dialed this number, I was told I had reached the contacts center and asked if I was calling about contacts or making a call for any other purpose.

As I had reached the contacts center, I selected that I was calling about contacts. Within a minute, I was connected with Larry, who asked how he could assist me. I asked him how much a contact lens exam would cost at Walmart and how I could schedule a fitting. Larry informed me that this number was strictly for ordering contacts and that he and his office had nothing to do with the individual stores offering exams. He said that exams usually cost between $70 and $100, but that was not a hard figure.

I thanked him for that information, and he offered to look up the number for my local Walmart so that I could go ahead and schedule an exam. I told him that would be great, and he asked me what area I would like for him to find a Walmart. I asked if there were any vision centers in Honolulu, and he said one was available in downtown Honolulu.

Larry confirmed the address with me, and I told him I knew exactly where that was. He then gave me the phone number 808-955-8522 and said I could contact them to set up an appointment. I thanked him for his time, and he thanked me for calling and wished me a pleasant day.

Overall, I think this number is helpful for what it is when you call for the right purpose. Larry provided excellent customer service and did what he could to offer assistance; he just didn't have the ability to provide direct assistance with my question. Based on my interaction with him, I think an attempt to order contacts through this number would have been successful.

I was also impressed with the low wait time for a large company. Walmart has thousands of nationwide locations, yet I was connected with Larry within two minutes. This tells me that Walmart has its phone numbers well segmented and has successfully minimized potential wait times for its callers.

I would not attempt to use this number unless you genuinely need to order contact lenses. This number can clearly be used to get basic information, such as a phone number, but it's not made for assistance with other aspects of Walmart's vision center.
