What It's Like to Call Shaw Communications Phone Number 604-629-8888

Shaw Communications's 604-629-8888 phone number still works properly, even though the company is now a division of Rogers Communications. The purchase went through in July 2023, and the companies are working toward a full amalgamation of Shaw under the Rogers family and brand. However, customers who signed up with Shaw can still use this number to get service from Shaw's team.

When I called this number, I was thanked for calling "Rogers Together With Shaw" and told I could find out more about the integration between the two companies by pressing 8, which I did. I was given the website link for Shaw's website so I could get information about what the future might look like with Shaw and Rogers joining forces, but no information beyond that from the system. 

After getting that bit of information, the system doesn't actually send you back to make a choice on what kind of service you're calling about. Initially, you're given the choice of Shaw home services, Shaw mobile or Shaw satellite, but if you press 8, you're taken straight to the merger information without actually providing the reason why you're calling. All you have to do to get service in this situation is remain on the line and you'll be connected to the next representative.

My wait until someone answered took about two minutes, at which point I was greeted by a representative from Shaw. I did not continue the call at this point, as I knew I would not be able to even pose as a customer given that I'm an American and Rogers and Shaw only provide service to Canada.

Overall, I think this integration is mostly set up well. It's a bit odd that the system can take you directly to a representative without entering your information and without even asking why you're calling. This seems like it could be a bit problematic, as it could lead to customers ending up with someone who isn't qualified to help them and needing to get transferred again. On the other hand, if Shaw's phone representatives are trained in all three aspects of Shaw's services, this would be perfectly acceptable.

Given that I can't use the services as someone who lives in a country that isn't served at all by either Shaw or Rogers, I can't give a full breakdown of how effective this number would be for a bona fide customer. But based on my limited interactions with the automated system, I would use this number without hesitation if I genuinely needed service from Shaw or Rogers.
