I placed an order on Walmart.com on Jan. ** and the order was shipped in * boxes. One was scheduled to arrive the following Sunday and one was scheduled for two days later (ie, Tues. Jan. **, ****), but I was delighted to discover both boxes arrived on Sunday. According to my package tracking app (AfterShip on iOS) and the tracking feature directly on the FedEx website, I was home when the packages were delivered to my front porch and I stepped outside to retrieve them less than * minutes after arrival. The packages were left in a hard to see, safe spot and I live on a very quiet street. I have no reason to believe the FedEx driver did anything wrong or that anyone intercepted my packages before I stepped out to grab them....*However, upon dragging the boxes inside and grabbing a pair of scissors to slice them open, I found that the smaller box was already open on top. I looked in and saw nothing, completely empty. There should have been * rolls of wallpaper, but there wasn’t even an invoice or a packing slip. TOTALLY EMPTY. I walked outside and looked everywhere, all the way out into the street, for the wallpaper rolls and they are simply nowhere to be found. *At this point a little panicked, I quickly picked up my scissors and turned the larger box upright (it was on its side when delivered and pulled indoors). I sliced the cardboard open along the tape seam and realized I had opened it upside down and would need to go to the top of the box to break through the styrofoam molds encasing my table lamp order. So, naturally, I turned the box again to be facing right side up and I discover it’s also already been opened. Like the smaller box, it had clearly been taped at one point, but someone with a blade or keys or something, had opened it along the tape, but flaps” of the cardboard box were kind of stuck on one another to due friction and I can easily see why the driver would have thought the box was still taped. *Anyway, I open my already open larger box. This time, the larger box didn’t even have all its packing materials, it was just two short pieces of styrofoam I can tell are intended to cradle the base of the lamp I ordered. NO LAMP was in the box (in hindsight, of course the boxes felt very light, but I honestly didn’t give it a second though before opening — I think I just subconsciously chalked it up to being modern day inexpensive* cheap* lightweight products, you know?). There was a lighthulb in a little cardboard box built-in to the side wall of the styrofoam mentioned earlier, but that’s the only “product” you could say was in the box and that’s absolutely useless without the lamp I ordered. *Long story short, it’s clear to me that my order was stolen. I have no reason to believe it happened on my property and I have never had an issue with our FedEx drivers. The only credible reason for the missing products is that they were stolen at some point in transit. I have a feeling I’m not the only victim, too. **On Sunday night, after calming down a bit, I started a return with the stated reason being “missing items.” I did this based on the info and directions on the Walmart customer service website. I thought this would give me a chance to chat with a human or a space to explain why I’m returning empty boxes (otherwise I would totally understand why Walmart wouldn’t honor my return— yet I truly have nothing to return!), but before I realized it, I had completed the return authorization and was given a QR code to show at a local store for finalization. **I’ve since held off on going into my local store to complete the return for the reason stated above. On Monday and Tuesday, amid a very busy work day, I attempted to use the GetHuman.com “autodialer” that offers to call Walmart.com customer service and wait on hold for people. After over * hours EACH day of waiting for the service to get connected to a representative, I gave up. **Yesterday I attempted to just call customer service directly and deal with waiting on hold myself, and again I waited over * hours to no avail.**This morning I thought I’d give it one more chance and see if maybe Walmart.com has a chat function for customer service, so I tried that as well. And the button where I click to chat doesn’t do anything. I tried * different browsers on * different devices and the chat function is nonexistent, it appears. **So now it’s been weeks since my empty boxes were delivered, I’ve wasted over * hours trying to find a human to talk to in some form, and I still don’t know how best to proceed with this. I'm trying to work this evening, so I'm attempting to use the GetHuman autodialer one more time. Fingers crossed.**I’m reaching out today to figure out if going straight back to a local store is indeed my only option for getting a refund started...? The entire reason I’ve NOT gone to the store is the sheer strangeness of my missing items* I would be shocked if someone at my local Walmart took me remotely seriously if I tried to walk in with empty return boxes, so I’d like to either get some sort of formal return authorization from a real human at Walmart.com before going to the store or just finalize the refund on the the web (I don’t really even see any point in going to the store unless y’all REALLY want that free-with-purchase light bulb back, haha). *I’m trying to be very cool, very calm, very understanding about this but it’s rightfully quite frustrating. I just want to get my money back and move on at this point. These products were meant to be for a cute “refresh” for my small business’s office and now the mini renovation is totally thrown off track. My business partner went ahead and placed a new order for the wallpaper and lamp and some other things from the Drew Barrymore Flower Home collection and is having them held at the Walmart near her house so we don’t go through this again, but now the delivery date has been pushed back to Feb **, which seriously screws up our renovation timeline. I realize neither you nor I can do anything about that inconvenience, but at the very least I need to get my refund ASAP and I’m hoping you can help. :)*Thank you,*Kathryn O’Connor
