Dear National Consumer Assistance Center Representative:**My name is Devney Ayers and I am requesting any assistance you may be able to lend to me regarding my credit report. My score has gone down significantly. The last time I pulled my credit, my score was *** (September ****) and as of today, it is *** (March ****). That’s a ** point deduction and I’d like to see what we can do to fix this please. **As you can see, most of my debt is from student loans and I am currently looking for a higher paying job in my field. Currently, I make around $**,*** (please see screenshot on page *). This has been a huge challenge for me and my debt keeps increasing despite my attempts to pay them down. With bills and student loans, you can imagine that my salary can barely cover daily living expenses. If you review my purchases, you will see that most are for basics such as food, clothing and lodging (when I was in graduate school). Currently, I cannot afford to repay my student loans as the monthly payment is more than my current monthly salary, so they are on deferment and the debt keeps increasing.**Even though I have a high debt balance (**% student loans), I have a perfect (or almost perfect) payment record for credit cards and when I was able to, I tried to pay more than my minimum payment. I am dealing with some financial challenges and I was hoping there was something we can work out to assist me during this time. **Additionally, I believe I have been a victim of fraud and I did attempt to contact you in December **** when I first realized this, but I’m trying again. I put in a request online and I’m not sure if I did it correctly as I didn’t hear back. Please send me any relevant information regarding how to make a fraud claim. I created an email just for this type of correspondence: *****@***.com so please utilize this for any electronic correspondence. **I received a notice from a credit card company stating that my credit limit was lowered due to serious delinquency on my credit report. Besides the high balance compared to my low salary, my payments have been on time for the duration of my credit history. I worked really hard to make that happen and I’d like to find out what I can do to remove*change this serious delinquency from my report. **There were a few cards taken out in my name in November and December **** which I did not authorize. I have noticed my score has plummeted due to being late on payments. I’m very confused as to what I would be paying on, as these cards are not mine.*The following accounts are fraudulent and created without my knowledge:***Milestone Credit Card (currently says I have a ** day late payment penalty)***Ebates Credit Card (Synchrony Bank- I did authorize this card and then I was a victim of fraudulent charges. I reported it and received a new card, but I’m unable to get into my account to see what I owe. I was told that these charges would be investigated but I never received any information regarding this and I cannot afford to pay a minimum payment when I don’t even know which purchases were mine. **I have been working diligently to get out of debt and most recently, I got my master’s degree (August ****) in the hopes of finding a more lucrative career. Currently I make around $**,*** as a teacher for students on the autism spectrum at a nonprofit agency which I’ve been doing for the past nine years. I love what I do, but I cannot afford to live on this salary, which is why I got my master’s degree to change fields.**I still haven't found a job in my new field and I’m requesting any assistance you might be able to offer. I have no idea if any of these things are feasible but here are ideas I’ve come up with. I would appreciate any of the following:***Assistance in investigating these fraudulent charges (there are so many options online, I am very wary of utilizing any as I’m not sure which ones are real. If you could please send me information regarding this, it would truly benefit me).***Forgiveness or cancellation of some portion of my debt***Any financial assistance for someone at my income level or assistance for working with students or at a nonprofit***Change how my score is calculated and put less emphasis on my student loan debt and more on my stellar on-time payments***Suggestions regarding how I can reduce student loan debt (such as government assistance plans, forgiveness, etc)***Scholarship for free credit monitoring through Transunion (I would have probably caught these charges sooner, but unfortunately, I cannot afford to pay for ID theft credit monitoring) ***Any other options you may have to offer**What is your policy regarding hard inquiries? I saw some negative (hard inquiries) on my credit report from July **** when I was purchasing a new car after mine was totaled. I was under the impression that as long as the inquiries were made within a few weeks of each other, it would not negatively impact credit scores since most people “shop around” for the best rate.
