My first online shopping experience with Target was totally disastrous. I had been in the market for a television for my guest room so I decided to wait until cyber Monday to take advantage of the spectacular deals. I stayed awake beyond midnight ******** to better my chances at getting the perfect tv. After skimming through various deals from several different retailers I decided that the $***.** **in Vizio smart HD from Target was the best deal for the price, so I placed my order. While placing my order I learned that my local Target did not have the item in stock but the next nearest Target store did. I continued with my order. Shortly thereafter I received a confirmation email and * *************. Feeling accomplished I went to sleep. My alarm was set for *:**am later that morning and I planned to go pick up my new tv after I got off from my ** hour shift at *pm. When I arrived at the store after waiting in line the clerk informed me that my order had been cancelled, to which I informed her she must be mistaken because there was already a pending charge from Target on my bank register. The clerk asked me to check my email which I did and to my surprise it was upsetting to find that I received an email from Target stating the item for which I had receieved confirmation for and for which funds were being held was not available at the designated location. At the end of the email there was a tab the gives the option to have the item shipped to a store location free of charge (pending availability). When I selected this option the tab would not process and only displayed a generic screen with a Target header. I then called the Target customer service hotline. After a nearly ** minute hold time I expressed my frustrations to the customer service rep. He was as helpful as I suppose he could be given what I perceived to be due to company policy his hands were tied. He gave me the option to go to another Target location even further from my home which according to his system they had * in stock but he could not guarantee they would be available when I got there. I asked him since the charge was already pending and the order was still open couldn’t he just transfer my existing order to that location and have the product in holding until I pick it up? Which stated not only could he not do that but when I get to the other location I would have to pay for the product again and he would cancel the pending order. I then asked him why the email with the defective tab stated I could have the item shipped to another location and why he couldn’t do the same thing. He implied that he couldn’t do that and it was out of his hands. When all was said and done I just requested he cancel the order all together. Extremely disappointed in that there were several other retailers I could have purchased from and taken advantage of their cyber Monday deals. Horrible experience for a first time Target.com user!
