We stayed at a Choice * hotel*motel on Friday Sept. ** - Sunday Sept. ** but we cut our stay short. Our reservation was prepaid to stay at the Choice * in Marietta, GA. We arrived at *:** pm and was informed that check in was at *:** and our room would be ready in about ** minutes. So we went to eat and returned at *:** to check in. We checked in and were issued keys. As we were going to our room, there were a group of * young people gathered in the stairwell smoking pot. I know that this is out of the control of the hotel staff but the initial impression didn't start off good. Then we arrived to the room and here is where everything started to become a problem. Room door was standing open, maintenance personnel was in the room tightening door handles, bed was not made, room was not ready for us to be in. So we went back down to the desk and informed the attendant of the issue. Housekeeper returned to the room to "finish" prepping for our check in. We settled in to the room for around an hour and ventured out to the Braves game. Once we returned to the hotel, there was not a single parking place on the property. We parked at the neighboring gas station and informed them that our vehicle was there so they would not tow it. We proceeded back to our room to lay down for the night. While laying in the bed, we spotted a bug crawling on the wall (yes we have pictures). I checked the bed for any signs of bed bugs, there were no "active" bed bugs on the mattress or box springs but there were signs of presence at some point (there was bug ***** present at the nearby wall outlet-again, we have pictures). Reluctantly, we laid down and tried to sleep the best we could. So now we are at Saturday morning. We venture out again to enjoy our three day weekend vacation. We return back to the room that evening to take in some college football. Once the games were over, we laid down again to go to bed. My wife thought she seen something so she turned on the lights. Guess what? Multiple, multiple bugs all over the room. I was laying in the bed when a cockroach crawled down the side of the pillow and that was the breaking point for me. We killed over ** bugs in this room in less than a ten minute timeframe. We then proceeded to gather our things and leave. This was at **:** pm. Because the office for Choice * closed at *:** pm, we were directed to the Motel * desk to address any after hours issues. Upon approaching the desk, the attendant asked if she could help us. I stated that we were in room *** at the Choice * (on the same property) and she immediately stated that "they are separate from us". Yet, at check in, we were directed to that desk for any after hours issues. I then asked for a corporate number, none was given. We were treated as if our problem didn't matter to the attendant. Furthermore, there were other patrons sitting in the lobby area waiting to see if rooms were available. The hotel(s) were overbooked and victims*residents from the Carolina Hurricane were trying to find places to stay. They asked us what happened and we informed them of the bug issue. This was by far the worst hotel experience my wife and I have ever had. The brand Motel * is nationally recognize with the motto "we'll leave the light on for you". Choice * falls under that affiliation and for an employee to blatantly disregard our concern was disrespectful and reflects the character of this business. I am an Environmental Services Director with an exceptional background in maintenance. I have experience with apartments, homes, hotels, and facilities. This facility was by far the worst that I have ever been in and the professionalism (or lack of) was astonishing to me. Whether Motel * is directly or indirectly responsible for the treatment we received, the partnership between these two facilities in Marietta, GA was very disappointing. What was suppose to be an enjoyable quick three day weekend vacation away, turned into a horrible experience that centers around nothing except this hotel. I would have to think that whomever you are, that reads this concern, would never want to have an experience that we had. If it were you, how would you feel? What would you expect? Would you ever go back? Ask yourself these questions and then consider the proper resolution.
