November *, *****Dear Microsoft and Dell,*I am a long-term customer and recently purchased a new laptop. The following is a re-cap of my situation:***On ********* purchased a Dell Inspiron **** * in * laptop. with Microsoft Office Professional **** installed and also purchasing a Dell KM*** Keyboard and Mouse. The laptop did not have an internal optical drive and had a limited number of ports (particularly no ethernet port). Setting up my email on this laptop was painful even with help from Dell.***On ********* I ordered the Dell Inspiron **** laptop, which did have the optical drive and ethernet port. I had to settle for a lesser product to get these * items included in the product. I waited for the second laptop to arrive (on ********* ) before returning the initial laptop.***Setting up the second laptop email also required remote sessions with technical support from Dell.***I waited for a personal friend to visit me from out of state in mid-August, who was instrumental in assisting me with my purchase, to help with new laptop problems.***In September my Outlook would not open. With a remote Microsoft support session on ********* it was temporarily fixed (case ***********). ***Same problem… Outlook not opening. Two more remote Microsoft support sessions with temporary solutions (case *********** with Henry) and (case *********** with Patricia on ***********.***Again on ********** same problem Outlook and all Office programs won’t open, “corrupted and unreadable”( case *********** with Haydee)***Problem elevated to “level *” (case ***********) received call from Ashish on **********. Office Pro **** was uninstalled and reinstalled. I was told I would*should have no further problems… that wasn’t the case… another temporary solution.***On ********* less than * weeks and none of Office Pro **** would open. Another phone call at approximately **:** am with Walter (case ***********) remote session (continuation of previous level * case) with Faizan at *:** pm. I waited all afternoon for the return phone call. All he could do was uninstall Office and re-install it.*I have no confidence that my problem has been permanently fixed. I am writing this letter because I anticipate the problem will reoccur. It’s just a matter of when. The inconvenience that I have experienced and the time that I have spent with technical support has been excessive.
