Timberland Boots,$***, were purchased as a gift from mother. She bought in store with cash. The cashier, either new, distracted, said she put the receipt in the box. The boots, a gift, we’re given to my son. They did not fit. We tried returning them, exchanging them for a different size, style to be told “there’s no proof of purchase how do we know you even bought them”. Rude, embarresed I stepped in and again explained and asked to speak to a manager. She told us he will say the same and again said they do not take things back with out proof of purchase and the return sticker is even missing. I told her about the cashier didn’t seem focused and that meant nothing. She basically said she could give us $**.** for the boots. $**.**??!!! For timberland brand $*** boots??!!! Unbelievable. I told her no way and I had called customer service. Lasted found out it was Macy’s.com. The nice woman over the phone took my moms name and told us to go back and tell them that the store can and does issue a merchandise certificate and should because the mistake was not the consumer. I told the cashier, she basically laughed and said there is no such thing and there’s no way of checking “an online customer service” inquiry. We took the boots back. So my moms out $***, her grandson a gift and my time for dealing with unprofessional rude employees. She never got the manager stating he was busy. Could you shed some light on this.
