I spent approximately $*,*** out of $*,*** using IKEA egift cards bought for me by friends as a housewarming gift. *Two days ago I got a call from a *rd party (apparently IKEA has to outsource secretarial help to set-up delivery times and handle contacting customers to give them the time*date delivery window.*Mine was supposed to be yesterday, from *am to *pm. I'd spent much time clearing enough floor space for assembly, and making sure my pets wouldn't be in the way. *I didn't hear from them til almost * hours past the time frame they'd given me, with an excuse so lame I don't even remember it, and a recommendation to call and reschedule. Why this couldn't get done then, while we were already on the phone, I don't know. By then high volume hours were in effect, estimated wait time was just over ** minutes, during which I spent cleaning the pet urine off the bathroom floor (that was the only place I could put them while waiting in vain for delivery and assembly within time frame THEY gave me! When checked the phone, there were was no msgs. I actually fell asleep while in IKEA limbo. *I don't own a car, and none of my friends have one large enough or capable of safely transporting heavy loads, hence the necessity of delivery. I don't want the prepaid egift cards bought for me to be wasted because IKEA dropped the ball, so the amt spent so far should be either returned to the cards, or reloaded on replacement cards (originally, two cards, one in amount of $*,***, the other had $***, of which $** remains) purchased with money pooled together by friends. Obviously, I can't transport larger pieces such as sofa bed, chaise lounge and ottoman via public transportation, so the cards will be used for smaller, more manageable household items. This fiasco is of their doing, so they should offer delivery and assembly retried for free until everything on the invoice is accounted for and occupying the intended spaces allotted to floors, walls, etc. Whomever is in charge (Mgr, Superviser, Foreman, highest on the totem pole) on their loading dock should guarantee AND sign off on the invoice TWICE-- the second time is upon completion of delivery & assembly to my satisfaction). So should the driver and any assistants involved in the process. *When everything has been accounted*inspected for any damages, I will sign, and sign again upon completion of assembly to my satisfaction.
