I was trying to get my Hotmail account back after it disappeared from my phone's homepage. ... I used duckduckgo a lot, up untill yesterday, to reduce my online exposure. Then it stopped working. I reloaded it several times, and it worked for a couple of minutes each time, then failed again* so I uninstalled it. But when I reinstalled it, all the links on my phone's homepage that I had previously put there using duckduckgo disappeared, my Hotmail included. So I tried to access my Hotmail using Startpage, which was working for me. But when I tried to reacquire my Hotmail, I was stymied by all the information it asked for. I couldn't supply ALL the information requested, particularly email addresses of people I had recently mailed, and the subject lines of those messages. I'm in my late **s. I can't remember all that ****! **When I tried contacting Hotmail Support online, a boiler-plate reply said I should contact those people by another means, and get their email addresses and subject lines of my recent messages from THEM.**First of all, that's a major pain in MY backside. *nd, it's an imposition on my friends and other contacts to ask them to do that research for me* and there's no guarantee that they kept the messages for days, anyway! I don't use email that much anymore, so I haven't sent much out recently. But I DO have a lot of important things stored in various long-term folders I created for the purpose. Like contact information for people I need to stay in touch with. See the Catch-**? My idea was that since Hotmail is web-based, I could access all that stuff from anywhere I can get on the 'net.**I always remembered my Hotmail password by the positions of the keys on a standard keyboard* but my phone's keypad is compressed to save space, and it doesn't LOOK exactly like a standard keyboard, so despite numerous attempts, I couldn't get my password right. And I can't reset it without remembering * email addresses and the subject lines I referenced above.**It's MY Hotmail account! I appreciate the tight security and all, but dammit, it's MY account, and I, I should be able to get back INTO it without having to recite the **** Gettysburg Address backwards from memory while standing on my head, spitting wooden nickels!**I'm just a touch miffed.**I figure MAYbe, if I can TALK to somebody at Microsoft*Hotmail Support, I could get back to my account. But they don't WANT to TALK to their clients* they want everything done online. I get that* it saves THEM time, money, and space* but right now, it's not doing ME a **** bit of good!**Please help if you can. Thanks.
This was especially frustrating because Hotmail is web- based, and I should be able to access my account from anywhere I can get on the 'net.
I just want to TALK to a Hotmail human.
I've been with them since the late '**s or early ****s.
I already detailed what I've tried, in my complaint. I won't do it again here.
