I have a non profit charity to memorialize my daughter's name and help needy children. This is the *rd year we have raised money to help underprivileged children in the school where Kris worked. I used a facebook page to get the word out and a Paypal button for donations, I thought, to collect money. There were two pages. One was a practice page with facebook aweful graffics. I put the second page together myself and blogged it, keeping it active. The goal was set at $****. A big deal for us. Facebook latched on the the first page even changing the name of my charity from KRIS Foundation to Cawanua's Kris Foundation for Kids. They asked me to make a donation button but I didn't want them to be custodian of the money and I didn't. Friends who used credit cards were sent receipts that explained, (short version) that we were not sanctioned by the IRS and their money would go to another repository for such funds. My husband had read over the IRS's criteria for ***(*)(c) and thought we did not operate with enough money to make it necessary. Meanwhile, Facebook never said a word. They just kept collecting money through the donation link they make for themselves. I am such a fortunate person to have such good friends that both love me and loved my daughter. Now, I must tell them this awful thing has happened. I'm sure a company as large and important as Facebook has covered all of their legal bases. It may be legal but it ain't moral.
