The issue in GetHuman-juliemhe's own words
I am a regular easyjetplus flyer and I was left stranded hundred of miles from home yesterday evening.**I boarded easyJet flight *** on Nov *st. Once seated a cabin crew member rudely chastised myself and another lady during quiet conversation by shushing us and saying Be Quiet. **The crew member was seated with his back to the cabin and there was a full wall between us unlike most easyjet planes. We were not talking beyond a hushed tone.**I was a bit taken aback and I felt chided for no reason. I noted that no-one else had been told off including others who were conversing and a man on his headset taking a call. They were all businessmen.**As the crew member entered the cabin I asked why only we were told to be quiet. I recall he initially failed to reply. I said it felt like sexism. He then became palpably offended. **Your crew member then proceeded to tell me we had been disrupting other passengers.**As he had had his back to us, a wall in between and no-one had spoken to him I asked him to explain who we had disrupted and how. **At this point your crew member ranted something about gender.**I tried to end it there. I felt entirely bullied and humiliated for daring to ask a question. **I believe my words were "Fine Darren let's leave it then and I will deal with it through complaints".**He became utterly hostile immediately. He threatened to take statements from all the passengers around. The men I had just pointed out were treated entirely differently. People who just wanted to get home on an already delayed flight.**He then strode over and ordered me to leave my seat in the front row as he didn't trust me there. I was stunned. I told him I had been flying in the front row with Easyjet since May and don't understand why. He failed to give me a reason except he didn't trust me. The lady in *A whispered to me that he was taking it too far. I was scared. I did not raise my voice, I was not abusive or threatening language, I had not been impolite in any way - no name calling or hand movements. I had simply asked two questions.**I turned on my video at this point. **It clearly captures a quiet and polite woman who asks for the captain to ask for help with Darren. It clearly captures no opportunity for me to receive said help from easyjet. It clearly captures that I left my seat and went to row * politely as requested by the captain - even though I pay for easyjet plus and extra legroom due to mobility issues. It clearly captures the captain had no issue with me flying to our destination of Glasgow.**I then sat in the new seat quietly not even looking up and in fear. At this point Darren has created a drama and delay simply because I asked why he had treated us differently.**Darren then made an announcement that the stairs would be coming and he would tell people what was happening later. I knew what had happened. I felt quite ill**I had not committed any behaviour*that is the threshold for common flight removal purpose. Or even a telling off. When did normal polite chit chat become a reason to be chastised? I have flown for over forty years and never seen this action even when passengers have been drunk, shouting, swearing and so on. On easyjet.**I had moved as requested and was terrified of this man and his extreme and ever escalating action against me. **I had been nothing but silent and docile at this point.**I felt very unsafe and called my partner. As the pilot approached I put my partner on speaker so he could hear the entire conversation. **The pilot told me I had to leave as Darren felt unsafe or uncomfortable with me on the flight.**I had just been chastised liked a child, discriminated against, faced unreasonable reaction to two simple questions and was now sitting terrified and silent in a plane of angry passengers. I asked him how that was possible. There was absolutely no response forthcoming. Just more threats from Darren re police.**Again - I never raised my voice, I do not swear, there was no threatening behaviour or aggressive language or manner. At any point.**I was in shock and asked to wait for the police. Having composed myself a little I realised there would be little they could do to help me as I am not a protected characteristic in criminal law. I was being verbally abused and sworn at by passengers in row * who only saw Darrens overreactions and assumed I must be exactly what he was saying.**I left the flight.**I drove to Glasgow and arrived home at *am, exhausted and terrified of every flying again. My husband is beside himself and wants to go straight a court. **I'm worried about how I can get back and forth to work. I am utterly terrified of seeing Darren again. Hugely disappointed that there's no protection for passengers from discriminatory and disproportional action by your staff. **I've lost half of my precious weekend with my family. And my confidence in what is right. Oh and utterly housebound today because of said drive. And I remain mostly terrified.**I had several bookings for this same flight over the coming weeks. My ability to to continue in my career is in question because I'm too scared to go on another of your flights. **When in any of this was my safety even considered?**I am requesting a formal complaint be raised against Darren and the captain of the craft, in relation to both the initial rude and*discriminatory behaviour from Darren for no good reason, to inappropriately escalating, or facilitating, his actions with no reasonable cause.* *I also hereby make a Subject Access for all cctv of my person during said flight and all and any data held about me by easyjet. **I am requesting you explain your policies on what actions crew can take against customers in full. I'm asking for specific detail of your processes, what reasons and how escalations are meant to be handled. I request you review if those were applied appropriately by Darren during this experience. I request you review the Captains actions and leadership of the situation.**I ask that you consider - was this an appropriate and measured and right way to respond to a question about being treated differently?**Finally and most crucially am I going to be safe to ever fly with easyjet again? **You have forced me to seriously consider resigning my executive position by making flying seem the most unsafe option to me now. This decision must be made soon as a result of this entire experience. **To recap. **Asking why I had been treated differently and rudely resulted in me being bullied by your cabin crew, harassed by fellow passengers, forced off the plane, scared to ever fly again and looking at throwing thirty years of my life away as a result.**And not once I did not raise my voice, use abusive or threatening language or raise my arms*hands. And I asked for help.**This is wrong.
