Hello, I am a ** year old sophomore at Trinity Valley School in Fort Worth Tx. Three years ago, I started saving money to buy a dell XPS ** with my own money. This computer has a *K touchscreen, and it took me two years to save enough money to buy it myself. I did yard work for my neighbor, landscaping for my father, and helped renovate his office for weeks in order to get the money. I use this computer for school work and for cyber security competitions. It has been taken care of amazingly well, and there’s not a scratch on it. Just this week though, a bracket on the inside corner of the laptop near the screen hinge broke. The stress of opening the computer caused the broken bracket to bind against the body of the computer and created a small crack in the screen. At first, the computer was taken to a repair shop here in Fort Worth. They quoted a price of about $*** to repair and replace the bracket. At the time, no one knew there was a tiny crack in the screen. This crack spiderwebbed across the screen over the course of just a couple of hours. When it arrived at the computer shop, they said that a replacement *K touchscreen would cost $*** dollars even before installation plus the $*** for the new bracket. They said it wouldn’t even be worth repairing as the cost would be well over $****. This $**** pinnacle of dell’s laptop line is just * months past it’s one year warranty. For a computer so well kept and so high priced, this outcome is unacceptable. This computer needs to either be repaired by dell or simply replaced. The old one has been wiped by the computer repair shop, and can be shipped back to dell if they wish. I hope a solution can be reached in a timely fashion as it is used nearly every day as part of my education, and a major cyber security competition is fast approaching. Thank you for your help!
