I am very disappointed with Craig’s list and it's practices- I am a fairly new seller- Over the past *, weeks, I have posted * items for sale, common items: musical instrument, some furniture, things that I believed would sell fairly quickly at good prices- I checked other, similar Craigslist posts current listings, and I was confident that my posting prices were within reason- I read Craigslist tips for avoiding scams for sellers- I read them with some concern, but, when I read the relevant article online, I learned that, supposedly, only * in ** offers to sellers turned ”bad”, and that the rest of the offers usually ran smoothly, with no problems- I was relieved on reading this ”fact” directly from Craigslist- However, my experience if being a new seller on Craigslist was nowhere near the positive experience they assured me I would have- I posted * items in * weeks- I received * offers by text- Every one of them turned out to be a scam, and none were legitimate at all-, - I am very upset, and frustrated- My posted items were common, and nothing unusual- I posted with Craig’a list, because I was aware of their fine reputation, and was fairly confident that I would not be ”screwed” by a buyer - After all, Didn’t they say that only ”* in ten” transactions went bad?? For me, this is not true at all- Buyers wanted to send me bank checks, money orders, and none were really interested in actually seeing what they bought-, I worked very hard on these postings, cleaning the items, getting them ready for posts, taking photos, trying to write creative posts and then, nothing- I trusted the forum of Craigslist., for its reputation for honesty and integrity, and I find there is very little of any of this- Where is craigslist accountability, responsibility in these matters?? Do they, at least, ”vet” their buyers, screen then, perhaps trying to insure that the offers are, indeed, legitimate? I know that a lot of responsibility rests on the seller, to determine if his offer is legitimate - However, I think this whole situation stinks! Why should I go on Craigs list and try to post my items for sale, if I have to waste my time, energy, and money trying to determine if any of these offers is even real! This situation is so frustrating, disappointing, and I have lost a lot of the faith and trust which I previously had with the practices of Craigs list - I live in fear of being taken advantage of by a sinister, devious buyer, who's only interest seems to be in getting money from me, as a seller- I am sure that thousands of ardent craigslist supporters feel the same way as I do- As for myself, I am going to look elsewhere, maybe even, or Amazon, or Bonanza, where I might be more certain of having a fairly honest experience- For buyers to take advantage of some sellers in this way, vulnerable people who are, in many cases, looking to have a little more money to pay their bills, is, in my opinion, absolutely disgusting- It is a sad situation- Lack of honesty and transparency among some buyers at Craigslist is rampant- Craigslist must try to take steps to better monitor and try to correct this horrible situation- For if there is little, or no, honesty and integrity among buyers and sellers on Craig’a list, why even bother to buy or sell there, as, mostly likely, you cannot be assured of having a positive outcome, for either buyer or seller-
