The issue in GetHuman-helene_t's own words
First my confirmation number for the transaction in question is **********. I made a booking for a one-night stay at Novotel Ottawa for ** August. I realized later that I needed to stay * nights instead. Called booking.com and the agent made the necessary updates for my. He reassured me that my initial booking (non-refundable) has been cancelled but that there would be no charge at all. However, I realized later that the two nights he booked for me was for a much higher price (refundable) so I cancelled that as well. My husband re-booked the two nights in his name. I have now received a visa bill for $*** for my initial one night booking. I think this is totally unfair because your agent reassured me that he had done the necessary arrangements for the cancellation and that there would be no charge. It was his mistake then , not mine. Moreover, the reason I cancelled the second booking was he made a mistake by booking me at a higher room rate. I hope you can address this issue for me and refund me the amount of $***. We did stay the two nights on ** and ** August as planned, but under the guest name of Terry ***. So this $*** is extra payment through no fault of ours.
