While booking a hotel in Greece todaythe wrong hotel came up on the confirmation. I cancelled it immediately, within about five seconds. The receptionist at the correct hotel witnessed this. **Booking.com say the ‘reservation’ would be charged in full. The hotel was not inconvenienced. The booking and cancellation were almost simultaneous so they probably did not even know (there was no-one there who could speak much Dnglish when I phoned them). **I emailed booking.com with the only contact email I had, which is for a booking in a different country later this trip, but explaining the situation in Greece. I then get an email from booking.com confirming a cancellation for my Italian hotel, a cancellation I had never requested. I phoned the hotel in Italy telling them to ignore any ‘cancellation request’ from booking.com. **So far today booking.com has confirmed a Hotel I didn’t want, threatened to charge me for sending an immediate cancellation notice, and now tried to cancel a hotel I want, have booked and am praying that booking.com don’t also ***** up. **I’m doing all this on my mobile phone and booking.com still makes errors after I’ve juggled about to answer questions on an email form — which is then doubtless handled by a robot — which makes errors. **I tried phoning London headquarters long-distance and was told there would be a ten minute wait. As I’m on my way to a VIP international performance of an Ancient Greek play tgat is not something I can do, or a call I particularly want to pay for. But I would like to speak to someone. Have tried to explain this too many times already. Personal contact, preferably tomorrow (Sunday **th) would be good.
Have been a customer for many years. Am on genius rating. Sadly any attempts to fix problems have made them worse due to booking.com’s automated misinterpretation and selective use of keywords in any communication. They called at a time I specifically said I would not be available due to an important engagement.
Tried phoning their U.K. office. Numerous emails.
