To cancel your AT&T account you will need to call into support. But before, you should find another provider and check to see if your number is portable, meaning you can bring the phone number to another company.

I cancelled my service and account (or I attempted to) multiple times since January. My account is *********. I received multiple cancellation confirmations, the most recent one on March *th and despite that I keep receiving bills. I have moved out of my past apartment where the account was at the end of January and have returned the equipment. Please, contact me as I find it useless to call the customer service number anymore.
GetHuman-vbanenki did not yet indicate what AT&T should do to make this right.
