I went to my local AT&T store on Oct *th and was curious about upgrading my iPhone **** for a *****. They didn’t have any in stock but the manager on duty said they could order and I could have the $** activation fee waived. Because I was going out of town the next day I instead said I’d be back in a week.* *I dropped in again on *****. The manager on the floor said that the other manager was unavailable (supposedly at lunch in the other room) and that the activation fee would not be waived, period. At no point in the ensuing conversation did they do anything to keep my business – there was no “what else can we do” or “let’s see if there’s other options” – simply take it or leave it, going as far to say that none of the competitors would waive the fee either.* *Well, one of them is more than happy to waive their activation fee. I may not have the most expensive plan with AT&T but losing $*** annually to save $** is not the greatest business plan.
