What are the hours and when should I call?

GE Appliances operates the call center for this 800-626-2005 phone number Mon-Fri 8am-8pm, Sat 8am-7pm ET. The short answer is that you should call on a Thursday. This observation and the following section are based on analysis of a sample set of 860 calls made in the last 90 days using our free, web-based phone (see above).

Automatically call when they open

When you use our free AI-powered phone to call and talk, wait on hold, or navigate for you, it will automatically wait until the GE Appliances call center opens before trying to call. It will ask your permission before it places the call, so you can also further delay that scheduled call until you are ready. But that means you can "set it and forget it" ahead of time.
An important note: busy times vs hold times vs best time to call
When we refer to busy or less busy times, we are talking about the volume of calls. The busiest times are when the most people are calling this GE Appliances phone number (least busy times have fewer people calling). This high call volume does not necessarily mean that you will have a long hold time when you call. Companies like GE Appliances staff their call centers differently based on the time of day and day of the week, so you may experience a shorter wait on hold at the busiest of times. When we refer to the best time to call, we are referring to the optimal combination of lower call volume and shorter wait times.

The least busy time to call

The least busy day to call GE Appliances is Saturday. The most busy day to call is Monday, which averages 86% more phone calls by comparison. Again, this is based on a sample of 860 calls made with our AI-powered, web-based phone in the last 90 days.

The shortest wait on hold

We measured the shortest hold times to be on Friday. The longest wait in the queue on average occurs on Tuesday.
But if you use our free call and talk for me or wait on hold for me service, you don't really need to worry about average wait times.

The best time to call GE Appliances

In summation, the best day to call GE Appliances is Thursday.

Contacting GE Appliances for repairs over the phone really isn't very effective, and if you try to do so on the weekend, it's almost completely ineffective. GE appears to prefer that people use their website over the phone when getting assistance with their appliances, as it pushes the website at every opportunity and doesn't allow any way to leave a message or interact with the automated system.

The one thing that the automated system does allow you to do is request a link to get to the website. If you do, the system asks you to enter your phone number where you want the link sent. Once you do, the system will send you the link and hang up after that. The link does work as intended, and if you have a smart device, you can even scan the serial tag and go straight to the website to get direct assistance with your appliance.

The link is also helpful for people who don't have easy access to the internet, as it offers appliance manuals, maintenance videos and ways to schedule service. Given that not everyone has easy access to the internet, this is a strong option for people who need appliance help outside of the Monday through Friday schedule and call on weekends.

If you do call on a weekend, you won't have any luck in getting through. The phone lines are only operational from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Eastern on Monday through Friday, and if you call outside of those times, you're only able to interact with the automated system and request a link to online services. If you try to interact with the automated system and don't request a link to online services, the system will automatically hang up. You have about five seconds to press 1 and get a link before the system hangs up and ends your call.

Overall, I don't love that GE makes it impossible to get assistance on the weekend, given how many people have trouble getting time to call until they get free time on the weekends. However, by offering a link to the support site, it's much easier for people who don't have easy access to reliable internet to get assistance. Most people do have a cell phone or can at least ask someone who does have a cell phone, which allows them to easily get connected. The system also doesn't assume that someone wants the link sent to the number they're calling from, which can help if they have a landline phone.

Based on this, I'd make sure that I was calling between Monday and Friday, but otherwise, I would feel comfortable using this number to get assistance.
