No, you do not need to fill up the gas tank before returning the Zipcar. When you join Zipcar, your membership fee includes a gas card in the car which you can use to refill the gas tank if it is below one-quarter full. This way, you can always enjoy the convenience of a full gas tank without having to pay for it out of your own pocket. Zipcar covers the cost of fuel, and they will take care of refueling the vehicle as needed. However, it is always appreciated if you can return the car with a similar fuel level as when you picked it up, as a courtesy to the next member who will be using the vehicle.
