As a WordPress user, you want a site that is friendly and safe. Therefore, if you find a site on the platform that is abusive, spam or otherwise a violation of the terms and agreements, you can report it by either logging into your own account, or you can submit a form without logging in. If the site does violate community standards, it can be removed from WordPress providing it is not a self-hosting site and was instead built using Automattic.
WordPress is a blog and website platform for individuals and businesses to reach larger audiences and promote their ideas, but sometimes the content can violate community guidelines. How do you report someone on WordPress who has posted content or has a site that violates certain rules and regulations? You can learn more about WordPress and how to build your own site by contacting customer support here, and you can follow the steps below to report content that is offensive or abusive.
WordPress supports free speech and realizes that just because someone doesn't like content doesn't necessarily mean it violates standards. It does, however, have certain guidelines that prohibit the following types of content:
Additionally, WordPress can only exercise control over sites that use WordPress' Automattic program. If it is a self-hosted site powered by WordPress, it cannot remove the site from the platform.
If you come across WordPress content that meets any of these criteria, you can report the site by being logged into your account or submitting a form without logging in.
If you are logged into your account and you see another site that violates community standards, you can submit a report form by clicking the three dots at the bottom of the screen beside the "Follow" link. This will pull up the report menu, and you can choose from the list how the content violates standards. Choose the one that best matches the page, and hit "Submit."
If you do not wish to log into your WordPress account, you can still report an Automattic built site by doing the following:
WordPress will review your report, and if it does violate community standards and was built using Automattic, it will be removed within one to two business days. WordPress wants to allow individuals to share ideas and products in a safe, friendly environment. When sites create a less suitable platform, WordPress will take action. GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like WordPress in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How Do I Report Someone on WordPress? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
