It can be easy to lose track of your WordPress account log-in information. With all the account log-in information that most people have to keep track of, it's easy to forget some of them. If you need to recover access to your WordPress account because you forgot your password, username, registration email or all three, just keep reading.

Resetting Your Password

If you forgot your password, follow this procedure:

  1. Go to the WordPress website.
  2. Click on Log In.
  3. Click on Lost Your Password?
  4. Enter your username or email address in the text field provided.
  5. Click on Get New Password.
  6. Check your email for an email from WordPress.
  7. Click on the link in the email.
  8. Enter your new password.

After that, you should be able to log into your WordPress account with the new password.

If you Forgot Your Username and Registration Email

If you cannot remember the username and email you used to sign up for your WordPress account, follow this procedure:

  1. Go to the WordPress account recovery form.
  2. Check the "I don't know my registered email or username" box.
  3. Enter the URL of your WordPress blog.
  4. Enter a contact email.
  5. If you ever purchased a WordPress upgrade, go find the receipt email and copy the transaction ID. Click on the "Do you have a transaction ID?" box and enter the ID. This can help prove you are who you say you are.
  6. Locate the confirmation email you received when you joined WordPress. If it has a confirmation button instead of a confirmation link, right click on the button and select Copy Link Address. Click on the "Do you have an activation URL or key?" box and enter the link you just copied.
  7. If you have two-step authentication enabled on your WordPress account, use the authentication app to get an authentication code. Click on the "Do you have two-factor authentication codes?" box and enter the code.
  8. Type anything else you want to say in the Extra Details box.
  9. Click on the Recover My Account! button.
