Introduction

Becoming an Uber driver is a great way to earn some cash. Whether you want to transport people or deliver goods, you need to provide your driver's license, profile photo, and your vehicle's license and insurance details so Uber can verify your identity. Applicants are also required to provide their Social Security Number so a third-party provider can conduct a background check.

If you want to check the status of your Uber application, follow these simple steps.

Check your inbox and junk folder.

Once you've submitted all the correct documentation, you should receive confirmation from Uber or one of their third-party background checkers. Before looking online for your application status, check your inbox and junk folder for emails from Uber, Checkr, Samba Safety, or HireRight. An email from one of these companies should tell you whether the checks have been completed.

Sign in to your Uber account.

Sign in to your Uber account using your Google or Apple account, or enter your phone number or email address, followed by your password.

Check the status of documents and your ID verification.

Once in your account, go to "Documents" to check their status. This will tell you whether your ID verification is still in progress or whether any documents are missing. Click on "See documents" for more information and upload any missing documents to prevent further delays in the application process.

Check the status of your background check with Checkr.

To see the status of your background check, go to the Checkr Candidate Portal. The sign-in details are the same as those you used when beginning the checking process. Enter your:Phone numberEmailSocial Security NumberDate of birthClick on "Get status" at the bottom of the page to log in and see details of your application. If there is no information, your background check is probably being carried out by HireRight or Samba Safety.

Ask Uber about the status of your Samba Safety or HireRight background check.

For updates on background checks handled by Samba Safety and HireRight, you should contact Uber directly. Log in to your Uber account and use the chat feature.

Understand that the process takes time.

Both ID verification and the background check take time. After submitting the relevant documents, Uber suggests it will take up to 48 hours to verify your identity.

Whether Checkr, Samba Safety, or HireRight is carrying out the background check on you, the process can take anywhere between 7 and 15 days. Even if you have received your completed report from one of these companies, you need to wait a few more days for Uber to review the results.

If you have waited longer than 18 days and your account is still on hold, it's time to contact the Uber support team for assistance.

Conclusion

Once you've applied to be an Uber driver and provided all the required documentation, you need to be patient while the proper checks are completed.

Keep up-to-date with the status of your application by following the steps above. Don't forget to check your inbox, including the junk folder, for email updates and notifications from Uber, Checkr, HireRight, or Samba Safety. If you've waiting longer than 72 hours for ID verification or more than 15 days for a completed background report, contact Uber directly for further help.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Uber Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
