How Do I Cancel My Trip with TripAdvisor?

Canceling a trip booked through TripAdvisor is extremely simple, but because the process varies depending on where and how you booked, it's easy to get confused. Here are the steps to cancel your trip with Tripadvisor.

1. Log Into Your Tripadvisor Account

To cancel your trip, log in to your Tripadvisor account and click on Cancel trip. You can find this option under Your Trips tab. Once you have clicked on the button, a new page will open where you can enter your booking reference number and select whether you want to cancel all activities associated with this booking or just one activity.

2. Click Cancel Your Trip

Locate the Cancel Your Trip button. At the top of My Trips page, select Cancel Your Trip. Once you click it, you'll be prompted to enter your email address and password for verification purposes.

3. Enter Your Booking Reference Number

Input your booking reference number in the space provided. If you don't have one, select that you don't have this number. Then enter your last name, first name and email address in the boxes that appear. If TripAdvisor can locate your reservation but it isn't showing up on its website as canceled yet, click Cancel My Trip under Cancellation Options.

4. Select a Reason

Tripadvisor will ask you to choose a reason for canceling your trip. You can select from a list of reasons that best fits your situation or leave it blank if you don't want to choose a reason.

5. Review Your Cancellation Request

Once you submit your cancellation request and TripAdvisor has processed it, you can review the details. If everything looks good, click Confirm Request. If there are any issues, contact a TripAdvisor representative via phone or email to resolve them before confirming the cancellation request.

6. Wait for an Email From Tripadvisor

You will receive an email from Tripadvisor confirming your cancellation. This email contains a link to the refund confirmation page, where to check when Tripadvisor will return your money and how much Tripadvisor will return to you.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for TripAdvisor Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
