Pinterest is a social media platform that allows users to make "boards" of their favorite images, GIFs, and videos. Users can categorize their boards into different subjects or themes, such as recipe boards, craft boards, etc. The website was created in 2010 by Ben Silberman. As of August 2019, the platform had over 300 million monthly active users.
If you find that you are no longer using the platform, or are using the platform too much and need to stop, you can choose to delete your Pinterest account. There are two types of Pinterest accounts: personal and business. Each type has a different process for deleting the Pinterest account.
Go to www.pinterest.com
The sign-up window pops up in you're not already signed in. Look at the bottom of the window and click on 'Already a member? Log In.'
You can sign in to your account with your email address or phone number and password. Alternatively, you can sign in with your Facebook or Google accounts.
Click 'Log In.'
In the top right corner of the screen, click on the icon with three dots.
Click on 'Edit Settings.'
On the left side of the screen, select 'Account Settings.'
Scroll all the way to the bottom and select 'Close Account.'
You will be asked to select a reason for why you're closing your account. Choose the reason that is most applicable to you and click on 'Next.' The options are:
I'm getting too many emails
I accidentally made another account
I'm concerned about my privacy
I want a business account
Other
Click on 'Send Email.'
Select the listed email that is associated with your Pinterest account to close your account.
Note that once you close your account, your profile will immediately no longer be visible to the public. However, it will take 14 business days for your account to be permanently be deleted. During this 14 day period, you are able to change your mind about deleting your Pinterest account. Simply log back into your account with your email address and password and you'll receive an email to reactivate your account.
To delete a business Pinterest account, you need to contact Pinterest directly.
Click on the downward-facing arrow next to 'Account access and closure.'
Select 'Deactivate or close account.'
Scroll to the bottom and select 'Continue.'
You will be asked to provide your information to identify your account. Fill out your first name, surname, username, and email address.
Next to 'Do you have access to this email?' select 'Yes' or 'No.'
Click 'Continue.'
You will be redirected to a new page where you can describe the issue you need help with. In the subject line write, 'I would like to cancel my business account.' In the description box, you can provide more details if you wish to. It's necessary for you to write something in the description box in order to continue.
Select 'Continue.'
Answer the question, 'Which device are you using?'
Answer the question, 'Which browser are you using?'
Select 'Continue.'
On the next page select 'No, there was no error message.'
Select 'Continue.'
You will be redirected to a new page asking for videos or photos. This is irrelevant to you. Select 'Continue.'
Select 'Submit.'
The Pinterest team will be in touch via email about closing your business account. This can take up to several business days.
