You don't need to download books you purchased from Kobo Books in order to read them. You can read them with the Kobo app or eReader. However, you can download them to read offline or to export to other apps or devices. To learn how, keep reading.

How To Download Your Kobo Books Purchase

To download a book, follow these instructions:

1. Go to the Kobo Books website.
2. Log into your account.
3. If you are using a laptop or desktop, click on the My Account link in the upper right corner. If you are using the app, tap on the Menu icon (the three horizontal bars) in the upper left corner.
4. Click or tap on My Books.
5. Locate the book you want to download.
6. Click or tap on the Actions icon (the three dots) next to the book you want to download.
7. Select Download.
8. Select Download File.

Exporting a Book That Is Not DRM-Protected

To export an unprotected book, follow these steps:

1. Turn your device on.
2. Connect the small end of a micro USB cable to your device.
3. Connect the large end of the USB cable to your computer.
4. Tap on Connect on the device.
5. Look for the drive with the name of your device on your computer.
6. Drag the book file into it.

Exporting a Book that Is DRM-Protected

If the book is DRM-protected, and most ebooks are, you need to install Adobe Digital Editions, which is free, to help you send the file you downloaded to another device. To install Adobe Digital Editions, follow these instructions:

1. Go to the Adobe website.
2. Download Adobe Digital Editions.
3. Open the installation file.
4. Follow the instructions.
5. Once the software is installed, start it.
6. Click on Help.
7. Click on Authorize Computer.
8. Click on Create an Adobe ID.
9. Enter the requested information.
10. Click on the Create Account button.
11. Enter your Adobe ID and password.
12. Click on the Authorize button.

To download a DRM-Protected book with Adobe Digital Editions, follow these instructions:

1. Turn your device on.
2. Connect the small end of a micro USB cable to your eReader.
3. Connect the large end of the USB cable to your computer.
4. Tap on Connect on your device.
5. Open Adobe Digital Editions on your computer.
6. Right-click on the device.
7. Click on Authorize Device.
8. Click on OK.
9. Click on File.
10. Click on Add to Library.
11. Locate the file you want to download.
12. Click on Add.
13. Click on Library.
14. Click on All Items.
15. Drag the book icon to the bookshelf on your device.
