Introduction

If you canceled a paid Google subscription and still have a balance remaining on your account, or if you made a Google Play purchase you should not have made, and especially if you find unauthorized charges on your account, you need to learn how to get a refund. There are a couple of different ways of doing so, depending on what exactly you are trying to get refunded.

What You'll Need

Your refund will be sent to the card or bank account you used to make the purchase. In most cases, Google will automatically refund you any credit on your account after you cancel a subscription, without you needing to do anything. If they do not, follow the procedure below to request your refund. If you made an in-app purchase and it was not delivered or does not work correctly, contact the app developer about the refund. Google does not handle in-app purchases. In fact, it is often faster and easier to contact the app developer about any sort of refund. While Google will mediate between purchaser and developer when it comes to getting a Google Play refund, skipping the mediation is less complicated, as long as the developer agrees to the refund. To get a Google Play refund for transactions you did not make or authorize, you must report the unauthorized transaction within 120 days of the purchase. If you wait longer than that, you will not be eligible for a refund. It can take up to four days to decide whether or not you will be given a refund. It can take up to 10 business days on top of this for your refund to be processed.
If you cancel a subscription but plan to keep one or more other subscriptions going, you do have the option of keeping the unused credits from the canceled subscription in your account to use with your other subscriptions.

Why does GetHuman Write How-to Guides for Google Problems?

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like Comcast in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our What do I do if my Xfinity TV or internet is out? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
