After setting up your GoFundMe, you can change it. You can also edit any other details including; your location, campaign story, campaign main image, and category.
Editing Your GoFundMe Goal Amount
You may wish to change your goal amount after reaching your initial campaign goal. If you do, post a campaign and explain how you intend to use the extra donations. Having a goal gives your campaign a sense of direction. Your supporters know what they are working towards. Editing the goal amount without an explanation may discourage people from donating.
Even though setting a high goal seems like a good idea, it may discourage donors. They may feel that the value of their donations is insignificant.
To avoid the need for editing your goal, calculate your goal based on the expected donation return per messaging blast and your donor base. If you receive donations faster than expected, you can increase your goal.
When to Update Your GoFundMe Goal Amount
1. When Your Campaign Loses Momentum
Most campaigns gain lots of attention at the start. The biggest donations are made within the first few days. However, momentum does not always last long. After some time, people may lose interest in your campaign.
2. The goal Seems Unrealistic
After some time, you may realize that your goal is unrealistic. Think about how much you have raised and how quickly you raised it. Think about the feasibility of your goal. If it is unrealistic, you may need to lower it.

GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like GoFundMe in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How Do I Change My Gofundme Goal Amount? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible.
