You'll never have to worry about forgetting to pay a bill again if you set up automatic bill payment from your bank account. If you have Capital One as your bank, this is pretty easy to do. This article will teach you how.

How to Set Up a Recurring Payment from Your Capital One Account

To set up an automatic payment from your Capital One account, follow these instructions:

  1. Go to the Capital One website.
  2. Sign into your Capital One account.
  3. Click on your checking account.
  4. Click on Pay Bills.
  5. Find the name of your payee from the list of common payees and click on it. If your payee is not on the list, enter the information for your payee.
  6. Click on the AutoPay option.
  7. Enter the amount to pay.
  8. Enter the date you want the first payment sent.
  9. Enter the frequency for the payments.
  10. Select a duration for the recurring payments to be made in.
  11. If you want, opt in to receive payment notifications in your email. That will help make sure you don't forget that the payment money has been taken out of your account.
  12. Submit the payment form.

Please note that it takes some time to get all of this going. To make sure your first payment isn't late, set up the recurring payment at least four days before the first payment is due.

How to Edit a Payee's Information

If your payee changes their payment information before you have finished paying the bill, you will need to edit their information in your account, so there is no interruption of payments. To do that from your computer, follow these instructions:

  1. Sign into your Capital One account.
  2. Click on your checking account.
  3. Click on Pay Bills.
  4. Click on the payee.
  5. Enter the new information.
  6. Click on Save Changes.
