Adding a Payee on Capital One Bill Pay

Capital One provides account holders with two ways to add a bill pay payee to their checking account: online and via the mobile app.

Adding a Payee Online

You can add a payee from your online account access by doing the following:

  1. Open Capital One's website in your browser and log into your account.
  2. Select your checking account from your list of open accounts.
  3. Click the link for "bill pay" to add a payee.
  4. Select the option to add a "company or person" as the payee.
  5. Fill in the company or person's name, address, account number and payment information (amount, date due and other required information).
  6. Confirm all the information is correct and save this to your account.

Mobile App Payee Add

You can also use your Capital One mobile app to add a payee by following these steps:

  1. Open the Capital One app on your phone or tablet. If you don't have the app, you can text the word "MOBILE" to 80101 for the link.
  2. Log into your account.
  3. Select your checking account from your list of open accounts.
  4. Tap "bill pay" to add a payee.
  5. Select "Add payee" above the list of companies or individuals you've already added.
  6. Fill in the company or person's name, address, account number and payment information (amount, date due and other required information).
  7. Confirm all the information is correct and save this to your account.

Adding payees helps you send regular payments quickly without having to look up account numbers, due dates and other information. It also allows you to set up recurring payments so you know they will be paid on time each month and relieve some of the stresses of your bill obligations.
