If your AT&T phone is cracked or broken, you can follow these clearly outlined next steps to address the issue quickly and efficiently.
AT&T offers its customers services for Internet and Wi-Fi, mobile phones, landlines, and televisions. This American organization has grown since its establishment in 1983 to become the world's largest telecommunications company. In 2018, AT&T ranked number nine on the Fortune 500 list by total revenue.
If you have a cracked or broken AT&T phone, keep reading for a list of instructions for what you should do next.
Depending on when your phone was purchased, some damages can be covered by the warranty. Note that liquid and physical damage isn't covered by warranty, so generally, a cracked screen isn't covered. AT&T's typical warranty coverage is one year from the purchase date.
Some manufacturers will cover a cracked or broken screen, especially if it's due to faulty manufacturing. Go to www.att.com/damage to see if your manufacturer offers damage protection.
If you believe your device is eligible for a warranty device exchange, you'll need to contact AT&T customer support. Or, contact AT&T customer support if you have a form of AT&T device protection. The plans offered by AT&T are AT&T Mobile Insurance, AT&T Mobile Protection Plan, and AT&T Multi-Device Protection Plan. If you're under these plans, you would have had to activate the plans 30 days after purchasing your device and have had to file a claim within 60 days of the original damage.

Follow the prompted instructions to submit your claim. You'll receive an email confirming your claim has been submitted and what your next steps are.
If you're having difficulties filing your claim online or you're not certain your phone is eligible for coverage, contact the AT&T customer care center. Call AT&T customer support and ask if your phone is under warranty or is covered under a mobile protection plan. If you're covered, ask the customer service representative to walk you through filing a claim. Keep the customer service agent on the line until you receive an email confirming your claim has been submitted and have reviewed the email.
If the customer service representative tells you that you have no coverage that will take care of your broken or cracked AT&T device, ask what your options are for fixing your phone.
If you prefer not to speak to a customer service agent over the phone, you can also email into the AT&T customer care center. Make sure to provide as much information as possible in your email. Include your account number, your name and contact details, the type of damage your phone has, and how long you've had the phone. It may take a few business days for you to receive a response from an AT&T customer service agent, but they will eventually respond with your suggested next steps.
You should note that if AT&T is unable to cover the costs of fixing your phone, you don't immediately have to purchase a new phone from them. You can go to a local repair shop to get a quote on the cost of fixing your phone. Oftentimes, repairing your phone is cheaper than having to sign up for an entirely new phone.
GetHuman has been working for over 10 years on sourcing information about big organizations like AT&T in order to help customers resolve customer service issues faster. We started with contact information and fastest ways to reach a human at big companies. Particularly ones with slow or complicated IVR or phone menu systems. Or companies that have self-serve help forums instead of a customer service department. From there, we realized that consumers still needed more detailed help solving the most common problems, so we expanded to this set of guides, which grows every day. And if you spot any issues with our How Can I Fix a Cracked or Broken AT&T Phone? guide, please let us know by sending us feedback. We want to be as helpful as possible. If you appreciated this guide, please share it with your favorite people. Our free information and tools is powered by you, the customer. The more people that use it, the better it gets.
