Hello, my name is Dominique Meriweather. I recently filed an amended tax return and am currently attending Strayer University. I was chosen for verification, and the financial aid department needs a copy of my [redacted] amended tax return, specifically the 1040x form, which is supposed to be two pages long. Unfortunately, I was not provided a copy of my amended return when I filed it, and the Jackson office is now asking for $25 for two sheets of paper. I am currently not working and do not have the funds to pay for this. Could someone please send the form directly to my school via fax or email? I really need this document for my financial aid. Thank you for any assistance you can provide.

While using H&R Block online to file my taxes, I completed all the steps and was prepared to file my federal taxes. I selected my refund preferences and opted to have the payment deducted from my refund. I received an email receipt but encountered an issue when attempting to file. Upon logging in again, the site prompts me to restart the process by choosing refund options and payment methods once more. I am reluctant to file and pay twice. Furthermore, I postponed filing my state taxes since I owe money. My intention is to use my federal refund to pay the state taxes. Will this cause any problems?

I have a question regarding our education credit. In [redacted], our eldest son received more in scholarships than we paid in tuition. Can he report the scholarship as income while we claim the tuition to qualify for the American Opportunity Credit? I need help interpreting the advice we got from H&R Block. Here is what they said:
"Including Grants and Scholarships in Income
Including tax-exempt grants and scholarships in income can help you pay less in taxes.
For this strategy to work, the tax savings from claiming the tuition must be more than any additional tax from including the scholarship in income. Typically, this happens when the student is receiving a full or nearly full scholarship and has minimal other income.
If you think you might benefit from this strategy, try your taxes both ways:
Include the scholarship as income on the student's return and claim a credit for the tuition covered by the scholarship.
Exclude the scholarship and see how much credit you can claim on out-of-pocket tuition."
Thank you.

I'm currently using H&R Block [redacted] Premium + Elite + State and have an inquiry regarding how to handle a [redacted]-Misc related to mineral rights. Last year, I used H&R Block for my taxes and had a [redacted]-Misc for this. The income was reported in Box 1 for rents around $25,[redacted]. I classified the rental property as Land, proceeded with my return, and was able to claim the EIC. After filing, I received an IRS letter stating that my EIC wasn't permitted due to my investment income exceeding $3,[redacted]. Now as I'm filing my [redacted] taxes, I have a similar situation with mineral rights income of roughly $25,[redacted] categorized as Land, allowing me to claim the EIC again. Given that this would put my lease income over $3,[redacted], I presume the IRS will disallow the EIC once more. Is the software faulty in allowing the EIC when Land is selected, or am I genuinely eligible for it? When I change the type to Royalties or Other, the EIC is rightfully disallowed. Could this be an issue with the software's handling of the Land classification and EIC eligibility?

Hello! While e-filing my tax return with the downloaded H&R Block Deluxe Federal + State software, I encountered a prompt suggesting an upgrade was needed before sending my returns to the IRS and my state (MN). Despite already providing payment information for e-filing my state return, I had to re-enter payment details after the upgrade. Consequently, H&R Block billed me twice for e-filing the state return, which was filed only once.
I am requesting H&R Block to refund the duplicate charge of $21.46 for e-filing my state return. Thank you!

I scheduled an appointment for today, 02/09/[redacted] at 9 a.m. at the office located at [redacted] Hwy [redacted] W. Montgomery, TX [redacted]. My confirmation number was #[redacted]22. Upon arrival, we were informed that the appointment had been rescheduled to 1 p.m. due to a lack of experienced staff members present earlier. The receptionist was rude, mentioned trying to contact me earlier, and changed the appointment without prior notice. It was disappointing to not have our taxes done despite scheduling in advance. This incident was unexpected from H&R Block, where we've been customers for a while. The lack of informing customers about staff availability during online scheduling was frustrating. The customer service experience left much to be desired, and we are uncertain about returning to H&R Block in the future.

I had a 2:30 pm appointment today with Samuel Firestone at the [redacted] Wilshire Blvd, Beverly Hills office. When I arrived, the door was locked. I contacted your Agoura Hills location and they said they would reach out to him. He arrived ten minutes later but had trouble starting my filing. Despite trying different computers, he couldn't proceed with my filing, offering a $[redacted] discount and requesting I return another day. By then it was 3:00 pm, and I opted to go elsewhere for my taxes. Sitting on the hallway floor waiting for him and the delay frustrated me, especially with my teacher schedule. Having been a long-time customer in various locations, I'm very disappointed with this experience. Please address this matter. Thank you, Susan W.

My fiancée and I had a disappointing experience with a representative named Carolyn at the Flattwoods KY branch. Recently, I was in jail and upon my release, my fiancée went to HR Block in Flattwoods to prepare our taxes. Carolyn assured us of a guaranteed advance, which turned out to be misleading. When we visited HR Block, only then did we realize that the advance was not confirmed. We were shocked to learn it might be denied due to my credit. After leaving, we received a denial text, leaving us stranded far from home in Bowling Green KY. This entire situation has been distressing for my fiancée, our child, and me. We are disappointed by the lack of transparency and are considering involving local news stations to share our experience with HR Block.

Hello, on Saturday, February 9th, I had my taxes completed. After moving to Texas in [redacted], I chose H&R Block for my tax needs due to buying a property for raising sheep. In [redacted], the fees were $[redacted] along with a $34.95 bank fee, tailored for my agriculture details. In [redacted], the cost was $[redacted] plus the bank fee. For [redacted], I was charged $[redacted], mentioning an additional page adding to the cost, plus the bank fee increased to $39.95. This year, in [redacted], the fee was $[redacted] with the same bank fee. Despite asking repeatedly, I wasn't informed of the fees beforehand. They explained the bundled fees as the reason for uncertainty. The total fee now exceeds half of my return, a stark difference from previous years with less tax info and being single. The fluctuating H&R fees and undisclosed charges until the end have left me unsatisfied. Previously in Wisconsin, I never encountered such high tax preparation costs, even with agricultural exemptions. I find it difficult to justify the substantial fee increases over just four years with H&R Block.

On February 7th, I scheduled an appointment to file final Estate taxes for a deceased family member. During the appointment, I was informed that no one available that day was knowledgeable about Estate returns. I was assured they would call back, which they did two days later to confirm everything was in order. However, upon arriving to sign the paperwork, I was surprised by a $[redacted] fee that had not been explained upfront. I requested an invoice to pay later as my lawyer advised me to use the Estate account for payment. Unfortunately, the staff seemed unprepared to provide a detailed invoice as needed for Probate Court. Despite my efforts to clarify the information required, I left without a satisfactory receipt due to time constraints and the dissatisfaction of other waiting clients. I remain disappointed with the lack of transparency and communication during this process.

I am disappointed that the tax refund advance is not offered online. I was unaware of this and was relying on it for unexpected medical bills. I chose HR Block specifically for this option, but after submitting my return, I learned it is only available for in-office visits. Unfortunately, I couldn't find an option to withdraw my return on the website. I have used Turbo Tax for the past 7 years and regret not sticking with them. The lack of clarity on the advance details feels deceitful, and I feel let down. I believe many others are in the same situation. Other tax companies offer the refund advance online, which I wish I had known earlier. I feel misled and regret choosing HR Block. The messaging and marketing need to be clearer to avoid misleading customers. I need to express my disappointment, and I hope for better communication in the future to maintain your reputation. I will not be using your services again.

I had my income taxes prepared at the H&R Block office in Xenia, Ohio. I thought I was paying for both my federal and state taxes to be filed. However, after a month passed without receiving my state refund, I returned to the office for an explanation. The tax preparer admitted she never sent my state taxes. I am extremely disappointed as I paid $[redacted] for this service and my taxes were not even filed correctly. I feel misled and dissatisfied with the service. Moving forward, I will not be using H&R Block again. I am requesting a refund of the fee I was charged for the taxes that were not processed as promised. The tax preparer's name was Brandy.

Since January, we've been using Tax Act without any previous issues. Unfortunately, our return submissions keep getting rejected. Despite attempts to provide our [redacted] AGI to the IRS, the problem persists. The IRS requires our [redacted] AGI, but Tax Act is prompting us to input our AGIs separately as individuals. As a married couple filing jointly, this creates a discrepancy. Contacting Tax Act has been challenging as phone calls go unanswered, and now emails are being ignored too. Resolving this issue is crucial as we are eager to complete our returns before the April 15th deadline. Our income sources include my W2, my [redacted] SSA, and his [redacted] R, with no other complexities to report. Any assistance in addressing this matter promptly would be greatly appreciated.

I received an email informing me that my federal return is on hold due to the qualified business income deduction. The final instructions for this deduction will be updated on H&R Block's online product by February 15. Once updated, I will receive an email confirming my return has been rejected. I will then need to sign in to my H&R Block account, click on Next Steps on the taxes overview, follow the provided instructions to make the necessary changes, and resubmit my return.
I am curious if the delay in the rejection date, February 15, [redacted], is caused by H&R Block or the IRS. I am concerned about the potential impact of the government shutdown and wish to have my taxes accepted before Friday. If I chose to use another online service to submit my taxes, could they be accepted sooner? I completed my taxes on February 1, [redacted], to expedite my refund process. Thank you.

I visited the Monongahela office in mid-January to get my taxes prepared. I explained to the tax preparer that I needed my return quickly, but it ended up taking hours that evening. Additionally, I had to make a second visit because two preparers couldn't properly handle my State return. Upon my return trip, the same preparer had to call someone to finish my taxes. I was informed that my federal return wouldn't be processed until January 28 when the tax season officially began. I was not informed that my refund would be withheld due to Earned Income Credit. If I had known this, I would have gone to my regular accountant who charges $[redacted] instead of paying over $[redacted] at the office. I'm still waiting for my refund, feeling frustrated that such information wasn't disclosed upfront, and disappointed to learn about the hold on my refund from the "Where is my refund" page on the IRS website.

Subject: Duplicate Charges for Tax E-Filing
Good afternoon,
I recently noticed that I was double-charged for e-filing my taxes through the H&R Block website. I paid the $39.99 fee for the initial filing on January 30th. After the return was rejected and I contacted the IRS, I re-filed on February 7th and was charged the $39.99 fee again. I am unsure if this is standard practice and would like to know if I am eligible for a refund as I was charged twice for the same return without additional work from H&R Block. The difficulty in contacting H&R Block about this issue may lead me to explore other tax filing options in the future. Your assistance on resolving this matter is appreciated.
Best regards,
Ryan

I completed my taxes on January 31st and made a payment by check due to issues with the card and check readers at the office, which seem to happen each year. Unfortunately, there was a 15-minute delay while they processed my payment over the phone. However, as of now, the check has not gone through, causing me some concern. It is disappointing that in today's age of technology, equipment malfunctions still occur. If the check does not clear by February 15th, I may have to consider placing a stop payment on it to avoid further complications.

I visited the Pataskala Ohio location after being assured my tax preparation would not exceed $[redacted]. Despite my brief 20-minute self-preparation the night before, the tax preparer seemed inexperienced and struggled with English. I had to guide him through my information, needing the manager to ultimately step in. Shockingly, the final fees far surpassed the initial estimate, leading to my disappointment considering I was mainly there for a loan advance. Despite a kind manager offering a $50 gift card as an apology, I believe a full refund is warranted given the subpar service received. I am disheartened by the misleading upfront pricing promise in the company's commercials. I have warned others against using the service and am willing to do their taxes for free to prevent similar experiences. I hope my account can be reviewed for a refund as this money is crucial to me. Thank you for your attention to this matter.

We have been clients of Palmyra HR Block for numerous years, always appreciating the positive customer service. Unfortunately, our recent experiences have been disappointing. Despite booking our appointments well in advance, we encountered long wait times for the past three years. This year, our punctuality was met with inefficiency as we waited 45 minutes without any acknowledgment from our accountant, Suzy. We were left feeling disrespected and ultimately decided to leave. While Suzy called to apologize, it was too late for us due to time constraints. It seems evident that HR Block is understaffed, a recurring issue relayed by the accountants. Suggestions include better communication regarding delays and ensuring adequate staffing levels. We have decided to discontinue using HR Block's services moving forward. We hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future clients. Thank you. - Brett and Lynn Lechleitner

I reside in Chipley, FL, and have utilized the services of Gail Walsingham as my tax agent for the past two years. This year, however, I noticed a significant discrepancy in my return. Gail did not explain the deductions and credits thoroughly, resulting in a shortfall in my child tax credit. My return differed by $1,[redacted] compared to last year, a substantial amount. Furthermore, I was shocked by the exorbitant fee of $[redacted] charged by H&R Block, which greatly reduced my tax refund. Had I been aware of this cost beforehand, I would have reconsidered my appointment. Regrettably, I will not be returning to H&R Block next year. Thank you, Bj.
